The High Republic series of Star Wars novels has not been without controversy nor have they been a runaway success by any measure. Such is the reality of trying to sell books that feature a rock speaking of sexual issues with a teenager. Yes, a rock. That’s not a metaphor or simile… it’s a literal rock that spoke about sexual issues with a kid… in a Star Wars book.
But Lucasfilm is leaning hard into the High Republic series to sell trips aboard the very expensive Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser experience at Walt Disney World. The two-day two-night adventure inside a role-playing hotel will set families back about four-thousand dollars. They’re in the middle of rehearsals at the moment in preparation for the March launch, and as a result they’re bringing in Disney employees, guests, contest winners, and VIPs to try out the hotel while they iron out the details. Some of the guests getting to partake in the preparations are the authors of the High Republic novels.

The fun doesn’t stop there, though. Disney is also catching a bit of flak because they have retconned the story of Leia and Han Solo by having them honeymoon in the Star Wars lore aboard the Galactic Starcruiser.
From Deseret News:
The news: StarWars.com revealed the new novel “Star Wars: The Princess and the Scoundrel” by Beth Revis, which tells the story of Han and Leia on their honeymoon after their marriage.
-
The couple departs for a honeymoon amid the battle between the Empire and the Rebellion.
-
Specifically, they take their honeymoon on the Halcyon starcruiser, which is the luxury vessel that you, too, can ride in the new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience at Walt Disney World Resort.
We recommend reading the full article at Deseret News because it really is funny just how far Disney will go to try to sell the hotel experience.
