Throughout the history of entertainment, when something becomes popular, somebody consequently will definitely, totally spoof it. But the ability to make pithy parody just went up a level, and fans are having a darn good time with Captain Shirtpants.
Star Wars was big. Spaceballs arrived.
Robin Hood is a legend going back centuries. Men in Tights is still a fun laugh going back decades.
Hey James Bond, meet Spy Hard.

Everywhere you look, folks just want to have fun with some of the stories that matter most. In the past, however, to do it the right way, you still needed a significant budget, an SNL skit, or maybe access to a college multimedia department with a love for humor. Now, however, you just might need access to Grok or some other AI tool. Of course, Adobe Premiere doesn’t hurt either.
To see what the kids are cooking up these days, look no farther than a Marvel parody that is making its way around X. The laughable nature of Marvel doing everything in their power to bring back Chris Evans for Doomsday, but not have him be called (or look like) Captain America is a source of mockery. And now, with the power of off-site computation, they’re receiving the ridicule they so richly deserve!
The prompt was simple.

So there you have it. Anybody can make Austin Powers any time they want while sitting in their basement. Never has making a joke been so easy.
But not so fast! For you see, this video features actual clips from the Marvel movies, the likeness of actual actors, and includes music from the films themselves. And that is where we reach a point that gray territory materializes. What are the rules in this new entertainment landscape? What can corporations do to defend themselves from humorous pastiche? And can celebrities sue even if no money is being made off the spoof?
At this point, nobody knows where the lines are. But until we figure it all out, just know… Captain Shirtpants is ready to save the day.
Or at least make you smile at the absurdity of the present-day future we now inhabit.
