Walt Disney World is offering a special After Hours series of events at their theme parks this winter and spring. Now through April, select nights will feature an extended three hour party for the cost of a different, special ticket.
According to WDW Magic, Disney has now released the official list of attractions which will be open for at least one of their theme parks’ After Hours events. Hollywood Studios will have a significant number of their already-limited rides up and going. With the imminent loss of Rock’n Roller Coaster due to refurbishment, the park needs just about every ride possible to make the special event ticket worthwhile. Here are the rides announced:
- Alien Swirling Saucers
- Disney Movie Magic – 11:25pm
- Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
- Millenium Falcon Smugglers Run
- Rock’ n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith*
- Slinky Dog Dash
- Star Tours
- Star Wars Launch Bay
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
- Toy Story Mania
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
- Wonderful World of Animation – 11:45pm
There’s a real problem here that you may have already noticed. When factoring in that Rock’n Roller Coaster will be going away from the list soon, you quickly begin to realize that there are not that many rides in the park to sustain a three-hour special event. Let’s get real… are you really paying this kind of money to get on Alien Swirling Saucers? Probably not. Are you really going to consider “Star Wars Launch Bay” an attraction? Probably not. And the Wonderful World of Animation certainly isn’t what it once was. That leaves you with seven legitimate rides worth trying to buy the special ticket for.
Is it worth the money when these admissions are higher than a one-day ticket by itself? Well, that’s up to you. I’m not so sure.

Personally, I think After Hours at Hollywood Studios is much more worth it now than it would’ve been in years past. While there’s still room for improvement, the additions made to the park a few years back brought in more desirable attractions that demand long wait times during normal operating hours. Yes, Alien Swirling Saucers and Star Wars Launch Bay aren’t good selling points, but being able to go on attractions like Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash as many times as you want certainly has its appeal.
