Is Microsoft planning to shock the world today with a surprise launch of Halo Infinite multiplayer at 1:00 PM EST? Cue the tears of all those who can’t take off work in time to get home and play right away!

According to the excellent Paul Tassi of Forbes, it’s looking extremely likely that Halo Infinite is about to stun with an early multiplayer release:

I have written two days worth of articles compiling all the ongoing evidence about this, and it ranges from insider sources to store datamining. Where I’ve ended up after all this is a pretty clear conclusion:

Yes, the plan has always been to launch Halo Infinite multiplayer as a surprise today.

While most people may be excited to play perhaps the biggest game of the year, and definitely the most important game for Xbox’s future, there is a notable exception. Electronic Arts had hoped to have some clearance for Battlefield 2024… but if Halo Infinite multiplayer launches today, you can count on everyone with an Xbox being on the game.

Halo Infinite is being released on Xbox One, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. The game obviously runs best on Series X. The game features a sprawling, open world campaign, as well as extensive multiplayer. There is no word yet if a Campaign Demo may be included in today’s (possible) multiplayer shocker.
