Walt Disney Imagineering has brought back Imagineer That!, a short-form educational video series originally produced for the Disney Channel. The revived version features the return of Tom Morrow 2.0, a character introduced in the early 2000s as a host and mascot at EPCOT’s Innoventions. The new series debuted on the official Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel on August 24, 2025.

In the revived version, Tom Morrow 2.0 interviews Disney Imagineers to explain how attractions are developed, from the earliest concept phases to full-scale construction. The first episode features Jonathan Friday, a senior creative director with Walt Disney Imagineering. He discusses how ideas for new rides are generated and turned into guest experiences. Brief visuals show model development for upcoming attractions based on the Cars franchise, as well as updates to Disney’s Animal Kingdom under the Tropical Americas initiative.
Episodes are produced exclusively for YouTube, each lasting around four minutes. The series is aimed at young audiences, particularly elementary and middle-school students, and continues the educational mission of its predecessor.
Tom Morrow Teaser
The announcement was teased earlier that month with a 15-second video showing nods to CommuniCore and World of Motion, as well as a name tag reading “Tom Morrow 2.0.” The teaser ended with the phrase “Coming Soon.” This announcement was accompanied by excitement from viewers familiar with the original series and character.

Starlight is the Disney night-time parade that began this summer. The Destiny and Adventure are new cruise ships joining the Disney Cruise Line. The Beak & Barrel is the new and first tavern opening at Magic Kingdom on August 29th. But what about WDAML? Although not confirmed, fans have suggested it refers to Disneyland’s Walt Disney – A Magical Life.
Background on Tom Morrow
The original series aired as brief interstitials on Disney Channel between 1999 and 2001, focusing on science, technology, and Imagineering.
Tom Morrow 2.0 originally appeared as a fully animatronic figure at EPCOT’s Innoventions, which introduced him as part of an educational, futuristic environment. He served as the Innoventions host until he was removed during a major renovation between 2007 and 2008. Max Casella provides the voice for the character in both the original and revived series.

Walt Disney Imagineering has recently increased its use of digital platforms to distribute behind-the-scenes content. In 2024, the YouTube series We Call It Imagineering launched, offering viewers a deeper look at the planning and construction of upcoming Disney park attractions. Imagineer That! continues this digital outreach effort, while maintaining an educational tone suitable for classroom or family viewing.
At the time of writing, no additional details have been released regarding the total number of episodes planned or how frequently new episodes will be uploaded. There is also no confirmation as to whether Tom Morrow 2.0 will return as a physical figure in the parks. However, the teaser and rollout suggest that Disney is testing renewed interest in legacy characters through digital media.
