They were supposed to have filming finished for Indiana Jones 5 in early February. They’re still filming. And although they’re working past the deadline now, with at least another week left to go, the drama surrounding this production just continues to grow more and more legendary. Not only has Harrison Ford been severely injured in the past, not only has the crew come down with disease, and not only have they been rushed out of a country due to lockdowns… but now Ford has even been helping with a crew member that suffered a heart attack near him.

“All of a sudden a male member of crew collapsed. Ford was standing just yards away and yelled for a medic”.

Indiana Jones 5 was already delayed once, and although we don’t expect it to be delayed again, the continued principal filming is pushing everything back yet again. There’s been some work to control the narrative around the delay with director James Mangold giving a statement to Comicbook.com:

“Like in all my work, I’m always trying to find an emotional center to operate from. I think the most important thing is, in an age when franchises have become a commodity, that serving the same thing again. At least for me, in the dances I’ve had with any franchises, serving the same thing again, the same way, usually just produces a longing for the first time you ate it. Meaning, it makes an audience wish that they just had the first one over again. So you have to push something to someplace new, while also remembering the core reasons why everyone was gathered. And to use Logan as an example of that, when you’re dealing in a world of a very pressured franchise.”

It should also be noted that Frank Marshall has been on the production extensively, though Kathleen Kennedy seems to have been conspicuously absent. Whatever comes to be of this movie, the attempt at making it will likely go down in move history as one of the most difficult since James Cameron attempted underwater filming.

It sounds like it was a major, life-threatening situation. We wish the crew member and his loved ones much good luck and health in the future — here’s to a full recovery!
