Letitia Wright does not want to be vaccinated against the pandemic virus with any of the current vaccines at this time. She is also an actress who was planned to be the star of Black Panther 2 after the death of Chadwick Boseman from cancer. So, the rumor mill has been churning today with supposed leaks that she is “done” with Marvel.

Over on Giant Freaking Robot, they’ve decided to send out this rumor approximately one minute ago:
“Our trusted and proven inside source has shared that because the production has had problems with Letitia Wright, they’ve made adjustments to the end of Black Panther 2. For most of the sequel, Letitia Wright’s character, Shuri, will be taking on the Black Panther mantle. The movie will now end with Shuri giving that title up. While our source shared that the character will be giving up the role of Black Panther at the end of Black Panther 2, they were unable to confirm the details of what happens in the scene.”
So what’s the truth?
Well, first of all, as I’ve said before, there’s a change at Disney that not many of these journalists and access media types have caught onto it just yet. Hawkeye isn’t doing so hot on Disney+, they’re all freaking out praying that Boba Fett reinvigorates everything… because whoa if it’s doesn’t. So you’re telling me that the two Wall Street investor returns type leaders over The Walt Disney Company want to bring Marvel into a vaccine debate situation and kick out a young actress for her views for a redo of the Gina Carano situation? The same Gina Carano situation that essentially stalled out Disney+ subscriber numbers for almost an entire year now? Really?
Bullocks.
For almost any blockbuster Marvel movie, they shoot several different endings, they play games with the script to throw leakers off the trail, and much more. If the “leakers” are right, they could be simply fooled like they’re supposed to be by multiple script options being filmed. The chances that Bob Chapek would let Kevin Feige drag the company into a volatile, worldwide debate that could swing hard before Black Panther 2 even comes out… no way in this world. Or at least, they’re crazy if they go through with low key dropping her.
Read the tea leaves, people. The US Senate just voted to reject mandates on this subject with two Democrats changing sides. The governor of Michigan came out against mandates for private businesses, and she’s definitely a Democrat. I’m not here to tell you what you should do medically. That’s for you and your doctor to decide. I’m not here to tell you what to believe politically or philosophically — go to a different website for that one. But if you think that current Disney leadership wants to hop back into another political firestorm like what tanked Disney+ before, you clearly aren’t up to speed.
If something changes, I’ll let you know. Crazier things have happened. But I would be shocked at this point unless she is fed up, or unless some new issue manifests.

Do people actually care about her character? Don’t think you can compare her to Gina Carano cause not a lot of tears will be shred for her being kicked out.
I think Disney would get crushed, if they do sideline her, due to her vaccine mandate opinions. Like Masterman said, no one really cared about this character… but half the country will care if they sideline her due to politics. She will become another Gina Carano for standing on her principles against corporate tyranny.
If it happens, I agree with you… Disney will, yet again, tank in the market. I’d like to think they’re not stupid, but we’ve seen them act stupid for years, now. If they were serious, they’d have canned Kathleen Kennedy years ago, when Star Wars numbers were tanking year over year. Star Wars should be a merchandising cash grab, but it’s not.
I have no faith in the higher ups at Disney, or at least I haven’t had faith. With Bob Iger finally gone, I’m hopeful that we’ll see some positive changes, soon.
