Is Wicked Coming to Universal’s Epic Universe? Construction on Expansion Pads Continues

Epic Universe may have only opened a few months ago, but it's already expanding, and some believe it could be adding a Wicked themed area. New permits reveal clear expansion plans for the park and aerial images have shown a 20+ acre plot of land cleared with construction materials behind the Stardust Racers roller coaster.

Universal Destinations & Experiences CEO Mark Woodbury stated in July 2025 that Epic Universe still has “a lot of room for expansion,” referencing unused expansion pads along the north edge of the campus and areas beyond guest sightlines. His comments support speculation that additional development will follow in coming years, with some claiming the park could be adding a whole themed land based on the hit musical Wicked.
