Brief bit of news today that touches on the continued efforts of the worldwide intelligentsia to control public opinion and acceptable narratives. J.K. Rowling, the author and creator of everything Harry Potter, is loathed by a certain sociopolitical demographic for her positions on the transsexual issues of the day. For that reason, many attempts have been made to strip her of her influence. Today’s article is hosted on That Park Place, a website that takes no political positions, so we’re not taking any affirming or condemning position on Rowling’s statements… simply covering the news:
The Guardian newspaper decided to host a Person of the Year poll open to the public. J.K. Rowling then took off as the leading individual in the poll, and not by a small margin. Rather than allow J.K. Rowling to win the “Person of the Year” award, The Guardian then effectively shut down the poll. This is accompanied by a host of articles from the mainstream media that seem to be another wave of attempts to “shame” J.K. Rowling and those who support one of the most successful women of all time. Take this article from The Independent for example… it came out three hours ago (great timing, eh):
I Can’t Help Thinking J.K. Rowling Has Tainted Harry Potter
Given that Rowling appears to have “won” a poll that was shut down before she could be “crowned”, you can imagine that there is also significant support for the author. However, the support appears to be on the outside of established media, and so their voices do not often appear in the text sources of rapport. But if after all this time and effort of “cancelling” Rowling, she is still winning public opinion polls, it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

It’s an interesting way to end 2021, and signals it’s going to be another wild ride going into 2022. Will the Rowling supporters win? Will cancel culture continue to dominate?
