The Mandalorian actor Jack Black, who also stars in the upcoming Minecraft and Borderlands films, claims he was blindsided after his band member Kyle Gass wished “don’t miss Trump next time” during a show in Sydney, Australia.

At a concert event for their Spicy Meatball Tour in Sydney, Australia, Black’s band Tenacious D celebrated the birthday of member Kyle Gass with Black singing “Happy Birthday” and a birthday cake being delivered by a man in a robot costume.

Black then informs Gass to make a wish. Gass then states, “Don’t miss Trump next time.” Much of the crowd begins laughing and chuckling. The video concludes with Black saying, “Thank you.”

Another angle of the performance shows Black laughing after Gass’ comments.

Gass’ wish came a day after an assassin attempted to kill President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania outside of Pittsburgh. The assassin’s bullet failed to kill President Trump, but pierced his ear. While he failed to assassinate President Trump, he did murder Corey Comperatore, who used his body to shield his wife and daughter who were at the rally with him.

The assassin also wounded David Dutch and James Copenhaver according to Pennsylvania State Police.

Black issued a statement on Instagram this morning. He wrote, “I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.”

He added, “After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

Black, The Walt Disney Company, and Lucasfim were called out by former The Mandalorian actress Gina Carano for the comments made at the Tenacious D show.

She initially wrote on X, “Would Lucasfilm or Disney like to comment on one of their actors on the Mandalorian promoting and at the very least not backing down and calming the actual abhorrent rhetoric on stage about joking about the assassination attempt failing to kill President Trump??

“Or is calling for peace between neighbors like I did the only values you at Disney/Lucasfilm find ‘abhorrent’ and like making dangerous statements towards your female cast members to broadcast out to the Hollywood press and world. Not this one though right? Or last weeks Mark Ruffalo comment. Or ALL the ones we have well documented before,” she added.

In a subsequent post she added, “Jack Black a man was murdered protecting his family for a bullet meant for Trump and it’s funny to you. A family is left without a husband and a father and you and your band mates laugh and wish the bullet would’ve murdered Trump. Get a mirror and look in it and see who is looking back.”

She continued, “Enjoy the privilege of keeping your jobs. They won’t come for you when you’re one of them, but once they’ve used you up, they will throw you away just like they have the rest of us. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? – Mark 8:36.”

Australian Senator Ralph Babet also called for Black and Tenacious D to be deported. A press release shared to X stated, “Tenacious D must be deported immediately.”

Senator Babet explained, “Tenacious D should be immediately removed from the country after wishing for the assassination of Donald Trump at their Sydney concert.”

“I condemn in the strongest possible way the call to political violence by Tenacious D in Sydney on Sunday,” he added. “To advocate or wish for the assassination of a President is egregious, disgusting, filthy, evil, and not acceptable in any way, shape, or form. This was not a joke, he was deadly serious when he wished for the death of the President.”

Senator Babet then declared, “I call on the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese to join me in denouncing Tenacious D, Jack Black, and band member Kyle Gass, and I call on Immigration Minister Andrew Giles to revoke their visas and deport them immediately.”

“Anything less than deportation is an endorsement of the shooting and attempted assassination of Donald J. Trump, the 45th and soon-to-be 47th President of the United States.” Senator Babet stated.

He concluded, “Australia wrongly locked up Novak Djokovic and deported him because he allegedly undermined public trust in vaccination. Allowing Tenacious D to remain in Australia after calling for the death of a President is unthinkable, and it affirms the weakness of our current Prime Minister.”
