John Golf’s “Putting Around the USA”: A Beautiful Fall Day at The Market

My wife asked me to purchase tickets back in August to an event she saw on Facebook. The event was called Vintage Market Days of Chattanooga. I got online and purchased the tickets on Eventbrite . The event went on for 3 days starting October 22nd and finishing up on October 24th. We decided to attend on the opening day.

It was a beautiful day with a touch of fall in the air. It was close to noon and the temperature was close to 65 degrees. We had directions to the venue but somehow got lost on the way, probably because of a lack of phone service for being so far from civilization. It was indeed a peaceful and joyous ride for us. We did eventually make it to the Mountain Cove Farms Resort . We did not mind the detours and missed roads. We were getting some great quality time with each other.

When we finally arrived, there was plenty of parking.  The parking area was in the valley surrounded by large hills and mountains. It was quite picturesque with the hint of trees turning colors and seeing the fields of hay mixed across the valley. As we were exiting our vehicle, numerous customers with arms full of new purchases were returning to their vehicles. All of these customers were wearing big smiles too.

Customers were able to ride a truck-driven wooden cart to get to the entrance or you could take the trolley car that was provided. We decided to walk to get some exercise. When you made it to the entrance, you could purchase tickets at the gate or you could show your online purchased tickets. We had a lovely young lady take our picture at the entrance where they had a festive fall set up for the special event. We then had a short walk up a fairly steep hill to the barn that was the centerpiece of the festival. Vendors were set up inside the barn and outside as well. We visited every vendor and definitely purchased a lot of food while we were there.

The vendors featured a lot of wooden and metal artwork ranging from country decor to jewelry. Several vendors specialized in women’s fall and Christmas fashions. I believe my wife touched every garment in each of these. I was plenty surprised how some of the vendors made old buses a traveling boutique. I thought it was very creative. There were vendors that had creative sweets and they had a vendor that grilled burgers and hot dogs while frying up some golden fries. My wife had a plain hot dog combo for $8 and I got the cheeseburger combo for $13. Both were delicious and enough to hold us over until we had ice cream waffle cones about an hour later. While we were eating our meal, we were able to enjoy a local musician sharing her talents.

We had a great time enjoying our fall adventure to Mountain Cove Farms Resort. It’s a beautiful drive in the Northwest Georgia area not far from the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park . I noticed that Vintage Market Days of Chattanooga already has plans for another event in April. I believe I’ll be back for round 2. Hope to see you all there!

Be blessed and safe travels!!!
