If you haven’t seen John Wick 4, don’t worry, we’re not going to spoil it. But suffice to say, the ending is such that the series could narratively stop where it is. But financially, the franchise is hotter than ever.
John Wick 4 is a marvelous Samurai-esque, non-stop action movie that features very little dialogue and somehow manages to elevate everything about the beat ’em up genre to a level of art never seen before. There are stories of honor, legacy, escape, paternal duty, friendship, and eternity all written into a movie that is more about moral dilemmas than killing even as you probably watch a thousand enemies be slain.
The tremendous artistry of the film, combined with a market that is desperate for masculine heroes, is resulting in a flood of box office support. Moviegoers are lifting John Wick 4 to franchise highs on a budget that is estimated to be only around $100 million. That low budget is all the more amazing given the unbelievable set pieces created for the film.
As a result, although the film could have stopped at John Wick 4, now Lionsgate is considering where the franchise could go for a fifth iteration. It’s just too lucrative.
John Wick: Chapter 4 had widely been expected to be the final installment in the main action franchise, but a fifth film is back on the table after the latest movie’s astonishing opening at the global box office, according to Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Joe Drake.

So how will they continue the franchise? Should they even continue the franchise? Those are all questions Lionsgate will have to ask and try to pitch to Keanu Reeves. After all, it’s difficult to imagine how they’re going to top the fourth. It’s easily one of the best non-stop action films of all time and will almost certainly be in my most liked films for the year once we reach December.

Fantastic film. The ending is not necessarily conclusive although John Wick pretty much resolved his conflict with the high table. So why would there still be a bounty? Call in his chips. The post-credit scene suggests the the blind assassin will come back in a sequel.
