The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial has been the most closely watched trial since perhaps the OJ Simpson trial in the nineties. Part of the actions going around with the trial is the forthcoming counter suit by Mrs. Heard against Mr. Depp based on the idea that his negative attention to her has resulted in loss of acting roles and loss of income. Today, during the trial, a key component of that narrative was put into question as Johnny Depp made a significant revelation.

According to Mr. Depp, but not yet corroborated by any other sources, Mr. Depp made a phone call to Warner Bros executives and Mrs. Heard was hired for the Aquaman leading actress role thereafter. If this is corroborated, this would be a major step in the trial as it would indicate that Mrs. Heard’s Warner Bros income is a result of Mr. Depp’s actions. This would make a major dent in the claim that Mr. Depp’s actions have limited Mrs. Heard’s funds. Mr. Depp’s call may have been connected with concerns WB had about Mrs. Heard’s prior legal troubles in Australia.

While we have not been covering the trial as much as other sites (it’s not squarely inside our parameters for entertainment news coverage), this would be a major revelation both for the trial and in the industry. You can imagine that other actresses who auditioned for the role are going to be quite interested in the fact that Warner Bros gave a huge role based potentially on a personal favor.

Will the plaintiffs bring corroborating evidence or witnesses to the stand to validate this claim? We will find out.
