Rumors sent to The Sun and partially confirmed via a call sheet would seem to indicate that Johnny Depp is returning to play Captain Jack Sparrow. Others deny it’s happening.

Did Bob Chapek re-sign Johnny Depp in his final hours as CEO of The Walt Disney Company? If a report out of The Sun is to be believed, it might just be the farewell gift that Chapek leaves for all to enjoy.
Insiders said the working title of the new film, being made by Disney, was A Day At The Sea.
A source said: “Johnny is set to return as Captain Jack Sparrow and is scheduled to start filming at the beginning of February at a top secret location in the UK.
“Everything is in the early stages and there is still no director attached to the project, which is being called A Day At The Sea.
“Johnny is expected to do a test shoot in early February before the production gets fully underway.

Despite the call sheet seeming to exist, other sources are now claiming that the information is untrue. Unlike The Sun, however, it doesn’t seem that the deniers are willing to give up their sources or methods for how they know Depp is a no-go. It also should be said that with Robert Iger taking over power at Disney, he could just as easily cancel the project and make all of this null. On top of all that, Depp was so hurt by the way in which he was treated by Disney that he has claimed he will never work for the company again. Did someone like a Bob Chapek or a Kareem Daniel manage to smooth out the relationship before they were axed by the Board?
Johnny Depp will not be returning to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, despite a report claiming his name had been spotted on a call sheet for a new movie in the hugely popular film series.
Rumors began circulating Wednesday after a report claimed he would be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow despite being axed from the franchise by Disney in 2018.
However, sources confirm to DailyMail.com that the information is false.
You might recall that The Daily Mail was also the news organization that confirmed Doomcock’s reporting on screening results for Indiana Jones 5. If they’re out there now batting down Depp rumors, and if they turn out to be correct once more, you really have to hand it to Daily Mail. The call sheet still stands though, so even if this turns out to not be true in the end, what does seem to absolutely true is negotiations had proceeded far enough that Depp’s name was back on official documents as Captain Jack Sparrow.
If this turns out to be true, Chapek's parting gift to the fans who loathed him is Captain Jack's return. https://t.co/vIBeZ5IGx8
