Jurassic World Dominion and Top Gun Maverick to Drive Huge Box Office Weekend

Movie theaters are about to be big winners this weekend. Can Jurassic World Dominion be good enough to keep the party going?

If you thought Top Gun Maverick was ready to go away with the release of Jurassic World Dominion, think again. Variety is reporting that analysts now think Tom Cruise’s phenom could fly as high as another fifty million dollars in its third weekend. If it does so, it’s breaking all sorts of records when it comes to legs on a film that opened greater than $100M in its first weekend. In other words, it opened big and it is staying big. We’ve said before that it is going to change the movie industry, and you’d better believe it’s doing just that.

But the dinosaurs that are undoubtedly going to ripple water in a clear glass container are no slouches either. Jurassic World Dominion, despite very mixed reviews, is predicted to have one heck of an opener.

I’m really hoping that Jurassic World Dominion is awesome. As in I’m really, really hoping. I would love to see these characters get the finale and the closure they deserve. Remember that the original Jurassic Wold is one of the greatest movies of all time. It’s a historic film. I would love a historic finish (for now). If audiences love the movie, the hold could be fantastic. If not, we’re back in Doctor Strange territory with a major first weekend followed by a quick dwindling of enthusiasm.

Either way, if you consider the other movies at the box office and their potential tallies, we’re looking at a weekend where theaters may pull in more than $200 million domestically from all screens. That would be a marvelous thing… and we’ll be celebrating like crazy if it happens. I think we all are ready for a bunch of great news, and there’s not much better than seeing movie magic make big money for the people who survived the pandemic and deserve the revenues.
