Are you ready to pass through security that looks like Fort Knox rather than a theme park entrance? It’s the world we now live in.

Following the fights that bordered on rioting at Knott’s Berry Farm, those having resulted in the park being evacuated, the California park took steps to change the atmosphere. New policies were put into place that prevented young people from attending the park without an adult chaperone. Apparently that’s not all Knott’s is ready to do. Prepare yourself for enough security that you might think attending the amusement park is like attending a presidential speech.
It may not be a bad thing in terms of security, but it sure is sad to see our society devolved to the point theme parks are having to take this sort of measure.

This isn’t surprising, unfortunately. Many theme parks are scrambling to update security protocols and systems as the country trends more violent. Both Universal Studios Florida and Disney World’s Magic Kingdom have seen serious fighting and violence inside their borders over the last two weeks. Though it hasn’t reached the point that we believe potential guests should avoid the parks, due diligence is now needed in many vacation destinations.
That hasn’t always been the case and it would be nice to return to times where we can be more relaxed because civil society is being maintained.
