KPop Demon Hunters is continuing up, up, up this year as the Netflix streaming musical sensation has taken 6 of the top 10 Halloween costumes spots this year.

Costumes Dominate Halloween 2025

Costumes based on KPop Demon Hunters have become the most popular choice for Halloween in 2025. Spirit Halloween began offering officially licensed costumes for the film in early October. These include adult and children’s versions of the three lead characters, with designs closely based on their animated stage outfits. The costumes were promoted in partnership with Netflix. Several retail locations reported stock shortages within the first two weeks of launch.

Streaming Records on Netflix

KPop Demon Hunters, the animated feature released by Netflix in June 2025, has become the platform’s most-watched film of all time. According to viewership data released by Netflix and reported by multiple media outlets, the movie garnered over 236 million views within its first 60 days. This figure surpassed the previous record held by Red Notice, which had 230.9 million views.

Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, the film combines musical themes with supernatural elements, following a fictional K-Pop girl group that secretly hunts demons. Its hybrid genre and stylized visuals have been cited as key factors in its broad appeal across international markets.

In August 2025, Netflix released a special sing-along version of the film in select U.S. theaters. The re-release generated between $18 million and $20 million during its opening weekend. The theatrical run was limited to three days, coinciding with the film’s soundtrack peak on the Billboard charts. Another theatrical release is set for Halloween weekend.

Merchandise and Cultural Reach

The success of the costume line aligns with broader merchandise sales tied to the film. Consumer interest has expanded beyond viewership, with demand for apparel, accessories, and music merchandise growing throughout Q3 2025. Market analysts suggest this trend reflects the increasing ability of streaming franchises to generate physical product demand during seasonal retail cycles.

According to music industry coverage, the film’s soundtrack has also played a role in expanding its reach. The single “Golden,” performed by the fictional in-film group HUNTR/X, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 in August 2025.

Broader Impact

The convergence of high streaming numbers, theatrical engagement, Halloween costume popularity, and charting music suggests that KPop Demon Hunters has achieved more than one-time viewership success. It has moved into multi-channel consumer influence, spanning retail, fashion, and music.

Its ability to maintain cultural relevance several months after release positions it among a growing class of animated media properties that function as multimedia franchises. With the success of the film, conversations are already taking place to about a potential sequel. Maybe the Huntrix trio will be around for a few Halloweens.
