Usually when there is an animatronic malfunction at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, we at least understand how it’s happening.
We’ve seen some pretty crazy animatronic problems in the past. We’ve watched John’s hand fall off on Carousel of Progress, Ursula’s head hanging by a cable on Journey of the Little Mermaid, and we’ve seen plenty of creepy facial errors. But in almost all those cases, we’ve been able to determine how the error happened. Broken hydraulics, loosened screws, it almost always makes sense. In the case of a recently captured error at Galaxy’s Edge with Rise of the Resistance, we are really befuddled.
Kylo’s animatronic programmer must be a Stevie Nicks fan… pic.twitter.com/tNnhZaReiR

Exactly why is Kylo Ren’s animatronic on a system where he can spin continuously? For what reason would that ever be necessary? And why would the animatronic go into an A or T Pose while spinning? None of this makes sense. And why are some of the figure’s clothes completely in the wrong area?
Hopefully in the future we’ll get a better video that gives us a more complete understanding of what was going on. Still, if you’re interested in the Kylo Ren animatronic, there are things revealed by this that you wouldn’t know otherwise — particularly the way the cape and garments underneath work.
