Gameplay and Content Overview

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is an open-world action-adventure game. The game follows an original story that traces Bruce Wayne’s development into Batman. The narrative begins with his early training and continues through his emergence as Gotham City’s primary protector. Playable characters include Batman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, Talia al Ghul, and Jim Gordon.

The game takes place in a fully explorable version of Gotham City. Players can travel through the city using grappling tools, gliding mechanics, and a range of vehicles such as Batmobiles and Batcycles. The open world includes side missions, environmental puzzles, and collectible items that reward exploration. Locations such as Arkham Asylum and Wayne Tower appear as part of the environment. The Batcave functions as a central hub where players can manage progress and customize collected items.

Players encounter several villains drawn from Batman’s established Rogues Gallery. Confirmed antagonists include Joker, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Bane, Ra’s al Ghul, and Firefly. These characters appear in story missions, boss encounters, and open-world activities.

The gameplay includes a combat system built around combos, counters, and gadget-based actions. Each playable character has unique animations and abilities that influence how encounters unfold. Outside of combat, players complete story missions, side objectives, and collectible challenges across the city. Progression unlocks a wide range of content, including over 100 suits and outfits, more than 20 vehicles, and numerous Batcave customization items.

The game also supports two-player local cooperative play. This allows players to combine character abilities to solve puzzles and complete missions together.
