The Lightning Lane Premier Pass at Walt Disney World Resort sold out for eight consecutive days at Magic Kingdom during a peak holiday period, while also selling out for four consecutive days across all Walt Disney World parks. Magic Kingdom sellouts began on December 20th and will continue through December 27th. Resort-wide sellouts will start on December 23rd and run through December 26th.
Availability checks conducted through the official My Disney Experience app showed no remaining inventory for the Premier Pass on the affected dates, indicating that Disney had exhausted its daily allotment of passes for those park days.
Holiday Travel and Demand Factors
The stretch of consecutive sellouts coincided with the Christmas holiday travel season, a period that historically sees increased domestic travel and elevated attendance at theme parks nationwide.

Sales data and pricing reports show that Premier Pass prices rose during peak travel dates, with costs varying by park and date. Four of the affected days reached all-time high pricing. On December 23rd, 24th, 25th, and 26th, guests paid $449 per person for the Lightning Lane Premier Pass at Magic Kingdom.
How the Premier Pass Works
The Lightning Lane Premier Pass debuted in late 2024 as part of Disney’s overhaul of its line-skipping system, replacing the former Genie+ program for higher-tier access. Since its introduction, the Premier Pass has sold out on select peak dates throughout the year. Multi-day sellouts also occurred during spring break and other high-traffic periods in 2025.
Guests who purchase the Lightning Lane Premier Pass select a specific date and a single park for use. On that date, the pass allows one entry to each available Lightning Lane attraction in the chosen park without the need to reserve individual return times. Passes are sold through the My Disney Experience mobile app or in advance on Disney’s website, with availability capped by daily inventory limits.

Disney adjusts the number of Premier Passes available each day, and availability varies by park. Pricing also differs depending on the park and date, with higher prices typically corresponding to periods of expected higher attendance.
Disney’s decision to replace its original free FastPass+ system with a paid option has frustrated many longtime fans. With Premier Pass prices reaching as high as $450 per guest per day, the cost has become a significant hurdle for families hoping to enjoy a traditional Disney vacation.
Historical Sellouts and Pricing Trends
Earlier in 2025, the Premier Pass sold out across all four Walt Disney World parks on select dates, including a stretch in mid-February. That marked the first time the offering had sold out at every park on the same day.

Premier Pass pricing operates on a dynamic model and increases during periods of higher demand, such as major holidays. Industry reporting has noted that prices for certain parks on peak dates have approached or exceeded the upper end of Disney’s established pricing range, reflecting date-based pricing strategies.
