An X video posted by longtime Disney fan and annual pass holder “Mally Mouse” has gone viral this week. Wearing Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Ears, Mally documents what she calls her “last trip” to Disneyland, marking the end of what she described as a lifetime tradition. In this clip that resonated with many X commenters, she noted the rising cost of trips as well as the cultural shift from the Disney company.

“As an avid fan of Disney and Disneyland, it takes a lot to push me away,” she admitted.

In the video, Mally explains that she’s been a Disneyland annual pass holder for most of her life, cherishing the park as a place of nostalgia. However, she cited soaring costs as the primary reason for her decision to stop visiting the park.

“For me, the bottom line is, it’s simply not worth the money,” she said.

Since her last renewal in May 2024, she noted that ticket prices have jumped by 30%, not including the additional cost increases in food, merchandise, nearby hotel stays, and even gas prices. Mally also expressed frustration over changes to Disney’s operational model—specifically the removal of the free FastPass system, which has been replaced by the paid Lightning Lane service.

“Disney stopped caring about their fans a long time ago,” she said noting how the company now charges for a beloved system that greatly improved guest experiences.

In addition to economic concerns, Mally also voiced disagreement with some of Disney’s recent social and cultural directions. She took particular issue with the company’s promotion of Pride Nights at a family theme park and the sale of Pride-themed merchandise in children’s sizes. She responded to those online who questioned her for financially supporting a company she no longer agrees with: “Well, I’m not.”

Response

The video has quickly gained traction on social media, with many commenters agreeing with Mally’s perspective. Disney has not responded publicly to the video, but the broader conversation continues to highlight the tension between rising costs, shifting cultural values, and the legacy of one of America’s most iconic entertainment brands.

Mally Mouse’s decision highlights the frustration from people that Disney is pushing away its “most loyal of fans.” She lamented that “the good old days” are truly gone.

“cultural shift ” – that’s the thing. If everything is DEI, then it loses value.
