Given the current grosses for the film, box office analyst OMB Reviews suggests the film will not even hit $100 million worldwide.
He said, “You do have a massive drop happening for Madame Web even though it is not getting to the heights of what the drop was for The Marvels, we are still seeing over a 60% drop in the audience which means there’s a very good chance that the film does not get to $100 million worldwide by the end of its run.”
Later in the video, OMB Reviews pointed out just how terrible the film is doing, “Still in over 4,000 screens, dropping to $1,400 per screen. And keep in mind that this film already, less than a full two weeks out from its initial release, less than a full week from its initial weekend release already started to drop to less than a million dollars a day.”
“I mean this is an atrocious situation for a film like it,” he stated. “That even though it only costs around $100 million to make that is still a far cry from where it needs to be as far its box office, making only $35 million so far after two weekends, getting also that extended release that it had because it had the opening on Ash Wednesday, St. Valentine’s Day and then all that adding up to it. So it made it sound like it was doing better than it actually was.”
He then stated, “It will definitely not be able to justify to existence because it’s not going to make its money back. And I think actually also has a very good chance of not being able to get to $100 million worldwide, which would be, I think, one of the first times ever in the history of any superhero movie, at least in a very long time, where that has not been able to at the very least get to to $100 million in a worldwide scale.”
Ezekiel (Tahar Rahim) in Columbia Pictures MADAME WEB.
Still later in the video, OMB Reviews shared his predictions that the film will only gross between $80 million and $100 million.
After pointing out how Madame Web’s daily grosses fell below $1 million on its first Wednesday and Sony Pictures’ other flop Morbius didn’t fall below $1 million until its second Monday, OMB Reviews said, “It’s doing about half of what Morbius did. And because Morbius ended in that $160 million range this is the reason why, one of the many reasons why, I’m saying the film likely ends somewhere between $80 million and $100 million.”
“There’s, of course, that chance that it makes over $100 million, but let’s just say $120 million is the cap right now for what this film will likely make based on the numbers that we are seeing,” he added.

The film reportedly has an $80 million production budget, which means the film needed to gross at least $200 million to break even, which covers the film’s marketing costs as well as the split that the theaters take from the box office grosses.
However, there are reports that the film’s budget was actually in the low $100 million range. If the film’s budget is at $100 million then the movie needs to bank at least $250 million to break even. Clearly, it’s not going to get there and the film is going to be a multimillion dollar loss for Sony Pictures.
