Sir Ian McKellen may have just given Marvel fans an Avengers: Doomsday spoiler. In an interview with Jake Hamilton, the Magneto actor casually mentioned, “I did destroy New Jersey the other day.” Almost before he’d finished his thought, he added, “Oh, perhaps I shouldn’t have said that.”

Hamilton didn’t press for more details and laughed off destroying New Jersey — “as one does” — before changing the subject.

From the beginning, fans have expected that Doomsday will feature cataclysmic action scenes and that not every superhero would survive. McKellen’s slipup, however, appears to give a specific geographic location. Why New Jersey would be Magneto’s target, as opposed to other locations, invites a new round of theorizing and speculation.
New Jersey in the MCU
In the X-Men trailer for Doomsday, Magneto is shown sitting with Sir Patrick Stewart’s Professor X in Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, which is in upstate New York. There is also a glimpse of Scott Summers/Cyclops (James Marsden) unleashing his optic blasts in a moment of anguish.

Rumors have circulated that Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) will be controlling the Sentinels—villains almost exclusively associated with the X-Men. A conflict in or around the Xavier Institute could lead to an entire neighboring state taking collateral damage. But that’s just one theory among many.
Some fans have noted that WandaVision, the 2021 Disney+ show, was set in Westview, New Jersey. Wanda Maximoff/The Scarlet Witch was Magneto’s daughter in the comics, which suggests that McKellen’s character could be looking for her and become involved in a conflict. Elizabeth Olsen has denied any involvement in Doomsday, though she’s said she would like to return to the role of Wanda.
Since Doomsday will be a multiverse story, it’s possible that Magneto and Wanda may not have the same relationship in this continuity. If McKellen’s Magneto variant arrives in Westview and comes into conflict with her or other Avengers, the entire state of New Jersey could be destroyed.

The only other time the Garden State has been mentioned in the MCU, it’s as the home of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel. At the end of Ms. Marvel, it’s revealed that she carries the mutant gene, which might provide a reason for Magneto to go looking for her. However, like Elizabeth Olsen, Iman Vellani has not been announced as being in Doomsday.
Ultimately, the why may be less important than the knowledge that Magneto will have a major function in the Doomsday story. With such a huge cast, many fans feared some characters would have little or nothing to do.
Magneto’s History of Destruction
Over several movies spanning a quarter century, fans have seen Magneto manipulate the Statue of Liberty, the Golden Gate Bridge, and RFK Stadium. What landmark he might use to destroy New Jersey is anyone’s guess, but with several iconic lighthouses and a historic U.S. battleship nearby, the filmmakers have options.

Ultimately, the conversation sparked by McKellen’s remark shows that fans haven’t tired of the character, and anticipate seeing him return to action. It also offers more than the trailer’s heavy nostalgia beats, promising another epic moment for the fan-favorite anti-hero.

How can I block this? I hate these non-sensical posts. Also, why can’t I change my name?? Mark Emark was just a stupid placeholder that I planned to change immediately. There are no options to update this under Account or Profile.
This movie will be an incoherent mess. All the actors will be fighting turf wars over the final cut of the movie, to boot. As with any movie made by committee, there will be unhappy compromises. They will play it safe, and it will be mid. Just like the Fantastic Four played it safe, and was a combination of irritating and boring.
so it would look no different than normal jersey then.
No one wants Iman Elephant in this movie. Ms. Marvel is a trash character.
To quote the late comedian Otto (of Otto & George fame) – New Jersey. Where a fart is refreshing.
