Compulsion Games, a Microsoft-owned video game developer that’s created South of Midnight, We Happy Few, and Contrast, shared their support for Crystal Dynamics’ trigger warning for Tomb Raider Remastered I-III.

Crystal Dynamics issued a trigger warning as part of the game that reads, “The games in this collection contain offensive depictions of people and cultures rooted in racial and ethnic prejudices. These stereotypes are deeply harmful, inexcusable, and do not align with our values at Crystal Dynamics.”
It adds, “Rather than removing this content, we have chosen to present it here in its original form, unaltered, in the hopes that we may acknowledge its harmful impact and learn from it.”

Compulsion Games expressed their support for the trigger warning, but made it clear it should be taken even further and games should “rewrite new history, not repeat it.”
The developer posted on X, “Many video games are a product of the times they were created in. As we look to recreate & remaster these stories for modern audiences, it’s important to consider the implications of these harmful portrayals and do our part to rewrite new history, not repeat it.”
The developer added, “We applaud our peers at Crystal Dynamics for their reflections and corrections.”

First off, there is no such thing as a “modern audience.” The game was likely remastered to appeal to the players who played the original games, thus they wouldn’t be a “modern audience.” However, when many of these companies claim they are appealing to a “modern audience” what they really mean is the audience they want to indoctrinate into their worldview. The “modern audience” is thus anyone who will play the game that they can imprint their sociopolitical and pseudo religious messages onto.
Second, who knows what the “harmful portrayals” are that they mention. They do not provide any examples. It’s just empty words in an attempt to virtue signal given there is no true virtue in the statement.
Finally, the fact that they want to rewrite history is an honest admission. That’s exactly what many of these companies want to do. They want to rewrite history to conform it to their sociopolitical and pseudo religious messages. Also if they can control history through lies, they can attempt to control and manipulate the present.
