It is the first day of Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind being opened for the general public at Epcot and already we may have a problem. Like its neighboring attraction, Mission Space, Cosmic Rewind is now adding vomit bags to the experience.

There was always a danger at launching guests at high speeds in reverse. There was always also a danger in having their vehicles rotate from reverse to forward thereafter. And while the ride is incredibly smooth, as well as a spectacular accomplishment, you just need to know that there are some people who may be more prone to motion sickness on this ride. If you’ve never had G forces applied to you in the reverse direction, it’s hard to say if it will make you sick or not. Most people have never had that experience to gauge it.

Should this dissuade you from riding? Well, it might dissuade me, since I’m in my sixties and am prone to motion sickness. However, if you can handle most roller coasters, I think you’re going to be okay. And even if you not, feeling a little nauseous might be worth trying out the most expensive roller coaster ever constructed.

I really hope this doesn’t turn into a Mission Space Orange sort of situation. When Mission Space first opened, it was more nauseating than designers had expected. I don’t know how many people are going to be made sick by Cosmic Rewind, but it sure would be a shame if it is a high enough percentage to give the attraction a bad reputation. Maybe hold off on those chili cheese fries before hopping on, right?
