Must-See: Hulk for Avenger’s Campus Is the Strangest Character Costume Ever

What walks like a toddler, bounces like a balloon, and towers over everyone and everything near it?

There have been some really weird costumed characters at Disney Parks. Who can forget the abominations that were Mickey and Minnie Mouse at the grand opening of Disneyland in the fifties?

But as far as weird goes, we think this year’s D23 has taken the cake. At least Mickey and Minnie were clearly just horribly done. This new Hulk costume for the parks feels like a cross between Ralph (who can’t bend his arms) with Baymax as an inflatable, all while being performed by someone who must be seven feet tall judging by the pants. Yet because this is clearly a hollow suit with plenty of air, the whole thing comes off as a walking Macy’s Day Parade balloon instead of a threatening Hulk.

Who in the world thought this was a good idea? Maybe from a distance, maybe on a pre-recorded marketing video… but not live with the thing looking toddler-esque.

We love cast member and imagineers here at That Park Place. This one though… this didn’t work. Maybe they can retool before it is shown at Disneyland. If, on the other hand, you want to see what it looks like when Disney hits a grand slam with costuming, check out this video of Ernesto de la Cruz they’ve just debuted.
