The Xbox gaming community was surprised Friday evening by a shakeup in the company’s corporate structure. Both Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer and Xbox President Sarah Bond confirmed they were stepping down from their respective positions—a move that raised questions about the future of Microsoft’s gaming division.

Now, days before stepping into her new role as the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, the online profile of Asha Sharma is causing industry watchers some concern.
Sharma’s Goals
Before moving to Xbox, Sharma was President of Microsoft’s CoreAI. Forbes notes that the 36-year-old’s prior experience is as a VP at Meta, COO of Instacart, and that she is currently a board member of Home Depot.
While Sharma has mentioned playing the game Firewatch, she has no gaming management experience. The decision to make someone with Sharma’s background CEO of Microsoft Gaming has raised concerns among some gamers that she doesn’t understand the desires of the Xbox user base.

In an interview with Variety, Sharma acknowledged that she is entering her new role as an outsider. However, she said that she is committed to “being grounded in what the community is telling us.” She added that her goal is to “earn the right to be trusted by players and developers.”
Early online reactions suggest that earning that trust may take time.
Gaming Achievements or PR Spin?
The X account China Pulse posted a screenshot from Sharma’s profile on the Xbox app. It notes that all of her gaming achievements across titles like Borderlands 2 and Fallout 76 are dated January 16, 2026, prompting speculation online. China Pulse suggests that her account was pre-set by Microsoft PR to build credibility with gamers.
I like that gamers do their research, the deception is wrong and pointless. That being said, if she were a “real gamer” she wouldn’t be CEO of anything.
Just think back to the Elon gaming scandal. You can’t run a company and hit achievements everyday. Both demand too much time.— Reese (@Reese1164381) February 22, 2026
Many users were quick to fill the comments with “How do you do, fellow gamers?” memes with Sharma’s picture. Some comments expressed the opinion that first-hand experience with gaming culture is important. However, others noted that both hitting game achievements and serving as a CEO require significant time investment. Simply put, a CEO wouldn’t have the time to make leaderboards.
AI and Trust
Sharma’s X account is also under scrutiny. Since being announced CEO, gamers have reached out to her through social media with questions about her favorite games. Some have suggested that her replies are overly polished and generic, to the degree that many believe her entire account is being managed by an AI bot, though this remains unconfirmed.

It’s an idea that may not sit well with gamers. While Sharma said in her Variety interview she has “no tolerance for bad AI,” the speculation underscores the growing tension between the gaming community and corporate leadership. When authenticity is an important experience, first impressions are important for setting the tone in times of transition.

Ultimately, whether Sharma logged her own gaming achievements or runs her own social media isn’t the main concern. Xbox gamers want to know that corporate leadership will respect the time and financial investment they’ve made in their favorite platform. Transparency and consistency—more than high scores—is the best means of establishing credibility.

Just another example of how the endless flood of pajeets are going to continue to shit up the US and Canada. Thank Ganesha we got JD Vance in 2028, right my fellow Republicans?
His wife is the fly in the ointment of Trumps victory. She’ll be importing Indiots by the millions.
Someone needs to photoshop some Saiyan armor on her, and then she can be Pajeeta, and go super street shitter.
“confirmed they were stepping down from ”
Corporate TWAT SPEAK.
Fuck off, just tell us the truth. They got fired. 🔥🔥🔥
This site is like reading some vapid, sterile, corporate intranet. 🤢🤮
If we want to read corporate bollocks, we can just read the Hollywood Reporter. Sigh.
This site is becoming the thing it fought against.
Microsoft are replacing all its staff with Indians. That’s what happens when Indians become CEO, etc.
Where possible, use NON-Microsoft software.
No coincidence Win11, Copilot, Edge, Xbox, Microsoft-published games, etc. are so utterly shit.
One look at her is enough to tell you she’s not fit for the job.
Like it or not but Women in High Positions ruin Gaming.
Women think with Emotion, and Men think with Logic.
So Men will know what sells and make sure it happens, while Women will be “Inclusive” and include things that DONT sell like Gay Shït.
Xbox is going 3rd Party and it’s sad because in order for ANY form of Entertainment to be successful, it needs competition and Sony won’t have any for Consoles afterwards.
Nintendo is “babies first Console”, while Xbox/Playstation or even PC is for Adults.
That’s harsh. I’m 58 and I like my Switch.
If I want Shwarma, I’ll go to a Middle Eastern restaurant.
Sometimes it’s just common sense.
Nothing about her says “Gamer” and her mentioning Firewatch first almost confirms it.
No offense to gamers who do enjoy Firewatch.
I get it.
I don’t blame Phil. He made more per year than he could spend, not to mention the profit sharing and thousands of shares in stock awards every year for the better part of 20 years. Why put up with getting the thumbscrews when you can’t hit an impossible 30% Gross Margin in games?
Whether he was pushed or jumped he is basically calling in “rich.” Part of me thinks he got pushed out considering Sarah Bond going with him (I won’t shed a tear for the DEI in chief of Xbox leaving). But if they’re trying to clean house why leave Matt Booty and Bonnie Ross? He’s steals… I mean reorgs so that, coincidentally, after the reorg all the profitable teams reported to him. I can’t believe he hasn’t been found out yet. Bonnie started the first “Team Vag” as leader of 343. And quickly killed what should have been a bulletproof franchise.
Go figure the Indian in charge of Microsoft would put another Indian in a position of power, and a female at that. I guess with Bond, Sarah Bond leaving they needed to show their commitment to DEI. Satya hiring one of his own kind is their way.
Making it worse, this new wench is an AI advocate. I predict more studios closed and serious downsizing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Obsidian culled, 343 further culled, the Coalition get going to get a visit after they get relocated to the US (they started in Canada which has much stronger employment laws). It will be a blood bath over the next few years as they try to replace people with AI. And Ads. On the dash, in game, wherever she can shovel ads. Ads powered by AI so they’ll know exactly where to hit your buying button based on game behavior.
Selling ads is her claim to fame when she was COO of Instacart. That’s how they became profitable and supported their IPO. I would expect her to pull that one out of her bag of tricks asap.
