Data tracking and analytics firm Nielsen’s most recent data reveals that the premiere for Marvel Studios’ Agatha All Along series performed worse than Leslye Headland’s The Acolyte.

That number does not look good especially if you compare it to Lucasfilm’s recently concluded The Acolyte series, which was cancelled after its first season due to low ratings.

Nielsen reported that The Acolyte’s two episode premiere attracted 488 million minutes watched.

Not only did the show perform worse than The Acolyte, which was cancelled following its first season, but as noted by X user NowItsKnown, the show also performed worse than fellow Marvel Studios production Secret Invasion, which attracted 461 million minutes in its debut episode.

Of note, that single episode premiere had just 53 minutes of total run time compared to Agatha All Along’s two episode premiere and 80 minutes of total run time.

As NowItsKnown points out, the show appears to have performed slightly better than Ms. Marvel. That show only received 249 million minutes viewed with its debut episode. If you do a simple run time calculation by dividing the total minutes watched by the run time, Ms. Marvel had 5.2 million views while Agatha All Along is just slightly more with 5.3 million views.

To provide even more color on how poorly Agatha All Along is performing, The Walt Disney Company reported in its FY 24 Q3 earnings report that it had 54.8 million subscribers to Disney+ in the United States and Canada. If only 5.3 million people watched Agatha All Along that means that only 9.6% of all Disney+ subscribers in the United States and Canada tuned into the series.

For comparison, Netflix reported that its Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story racked up 12.3 million views for the week of September 16 to September 22nd. Netflix reported that it has 84.8 million subscribers in the United States and Canada in its most recent financial documents in September. That means 14.5% of all Netflix subscribers tuned in to the program in its first week. The show has remained on Netflix’s top charts to date and has amassed a total of 58.9 million views. So it is quite likely that the show has been watched by upwards of 20% of all Netflix subscribers in the United States and Canada.

But maybe the biggest take away from these numbers is that the Marvel brand is decline. The days of bringing in 731 million minutes with a single episode premiere of Loki are long gone despite having even more subscribers to Disney+ now than in 2021 when that show debuted.
