Nintendo has officially pulled the plug on one of its most attractive launch deals, confirming that the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle has been discontinued and will no longer be produced. While remaining units may still be available at retail, Nintendo has made it clear that the bundle has reached the end of its planned lifecycle.
The confirmation comes via a leaked internal memo shared online by the deal-tracking account Nintendeals on December 21st. According to the document, Nintendo informed retail partners that the Switch 2 bundle featuring Mario Kart World has officially concluded production, with no additional units scheduled to be manufactured.

While the company is allowing existing stock to remain on shelves, the memo explicitly encourages retailers to recommend the bundle as a “great value” option for customers while supplies last.
Why the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle Mattered
The Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle offered a notable discount compared to purchasing the console and game separately. The bundle was priced at $499.99 and included the Switch 2 console alongside Mario Kart World in digital form.

On its own, Mario Kart World carries a $79.99 price tag, while the standalone Switch 2 system retails for $449.99. That effectively placed the game at $49.99 within the bundle—a $30 savings compared to buying both separately.
For many consumers, that discount softened the blow of Mario Kart World’s higher-than-expected standalone price, which marked a significant jump from the $59.99 standard many players had grown accustomed to for new Nintendo releases.
Strong Early Sales—With an Asterisk
Mario Kart World launched with strong momentum, selling more than 5.63 million copies worldwide by June 30th—less than a month after release. However, a significant portion of those sales came bundled with the Switch 2 hardware, making it difficult to determine how well the game performed on its own merits at full price.

That distinction became more noticeable in July, when Mario Kart World was reportedly outsold by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe—an eight-year-old title originally released on the previous Nintendo Switch. Despite being in just its second month on the market, the newer game failed to overtake its predecessor, raising questions about consumer resistance to its pricing or overall interest in the latest installment.
With the bundle now discontinued, future sales data may provide a clearer picture of how Mario Kart World performs without the benefit of bundled discounts.
Limited-Time Offer Ends Right on Schedule
While the discontinuation may come as a disappointment to some fans, it wasn’t entirely unexpected. Nintendo previously stated that the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle would be available for a limited time “through fall 2025.” With the official start of winter upon us, the timing of the decision aligns closely with that original messaging.

Retailers have already begun responding accordingly. GameStop, for example, publicly urged customers to secure the bundle before supplies run out, emphasizing the savings and confirming that no restocks are expected once current inventory is gone.
The move also positions Nintendo well for last-minute holiday purchases, especially if retailers follow the company’s guidance to market the bundle as a high-value option while it’s still available.
More Bundles Likely on the Way
Despite the end of this particular promotion, industry watchers don’t believe Nintendo is done offering console bundles for the Switch 2. GamesRadar and other outlets have pointed to the recently released Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 bundle as evidence that Nintendo plans to rotate limited-time offers tied to major releases.
If that strategy continues, it could help explain Nintendo’s willingness to raise individual game prices—offsetting higher costs with periodic hardware bundles that encourage console adoption while preserving margins.

For now, however, the Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle is officially discontinued, and once current stock is gone, the $30 savings goes with it.
