Deadline reports Juan Carlos Osorio, 41, of Temple City “died Tuesday after falling from a catwalk at Radford Studios.” The show was reportedly not filming at the time he fell from the catwalk.

A Marvel spokesman issued the following statement, “Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident.”

IATSE President Matthew D. Loeb confirmed that OSHA would investigate Osorio’s death saying, “Everyone in the IA family is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic loss. We are working to support our member’s family, and his fellow members and colleagues.”

He added, “Safety on set is our highest priority and we will assist Cal/OSHA in their investigation in any way that we can. If you feel unsafe on set for any reason, members can call the IATSE Safety Hotline at 844-422-9273 or use our safety info app.”

A GoFundMe campaign claims that Osorio’s death was “due to a potential structural failure.”

It reads, “On February 6th, 2024, our friend Spike lost his life on the set of Marvels WonderMan shoot at CBS Radford studios due to a potential structural failure. We are hoping the Production Company, The Facility, MBS, Marvel Studios handles things properly, but expect a long road fraught with attorney fees and expenses.

It concludes, “In the mean time, bills will be mounting and the widow, Boom Operator Joanne W. will be left to deal with everything. Help if you’re able, it’s greatly appreciated.”

The GoFundMe is organized by Bill Martel and has currently raised $152,493.

According to Deadline’s Justin Kroll Wonder Man was not expected to begin filming until March. The series features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II playing a race-swapped version of Simon Williams.

The series was announced back in June 2022 with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton working with head writer Andrew Guest to bring it to life.

In February 20223, Marvel Studios producer Stephen Broussard told ComicBook.com, “Destin is doing a television show for us called Wonder Man. I think that’s out there in the world.”

He added, “[Wonder Man will] be definitely influenced by the comics. One of the things that we’re excited about it is that it’s going to feel very unique. It’s not going to feel like anything you’ve quite seen in the MCU before. And the kind of stories we can tell on Disney+, which has been fun. Like streaming, serialized storytelling is a totally different muscle. So, we’re having a blast making that one.”
