Pop culture critic and commentator RazörFist called on Marvel Studios and The Walt Disney Company to scrap the Daredevil: Born Again series after the studio released Echo.

As first reported by Fandom Pulse, RazörFist shared on X, “If Echo is their best effort at mimicking the style and themes of Netflix’s Daredevil… just cancel Born Again and spare us all the agony. I don’t care if Foggy or Karen are in the show.”

He added, “I’m full up on Member Berry pudding. The original writers/producers are gone. Let it die.”

In a follow-up post he shared, “Unless the writers and producers reprise theirs, it will just be more boilerplate Disney detritus wrapped in a Daredevil skin-suit.”

Marvel Studios scrapped their original plans for Daredevil: Born Again back in October with The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit reporting the show was undergoing “a significant creative reboot.”

The report also detailed they were canning the show’s head writers Chris Ord and Matt Corman as well as the series directors.

On top of scrapping their original plans for Daredevil: Born Again, Marvel Studios’ head of streaming, television, and animation Brad Winderbaum announced they were completely restructuring their television division explaining, “We’re trying to marry the Marvel culture with the traditional television culture. It comes down to, ‘How can we tell stories in television that honor what’s so great about the source material?’”

Kit explained, “Marvel is making concrete changes in  how it makes TV.  It now has plans to hire showrunners. … The studio also plans on having full-time TV execs, rather than having executives straddle both television and film. … It also is revamping its development process. Showrunners will write pilots and show bibles. The days of Marvel shooting an entire series, from She-Hulk to Secret Invasion, then looking at what’s working and what’s not, are done.”

As far as Echo’s performance it has mediocre audience scores. On IMDb, the show currently has a 6.1 out of 10.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the series has a 63% average audience score. Viewers gave the series a 3.4 out of 5 average rating.

There is not any viewership information available for the show yet, but it’s unlikely to be good. On IMDb the show has only received 19,000 reviews. Comparatively, Secret Invasion received 73,000 albeit Echo released all five of episodes at once while Secret Invasion released episodes weekly.

The series received far less reviews than Lucasfilm’s Ahsoka and The Mandalorian series released in 2023.  Ahsoka received over 102,000 reviews while The Mandalorian Season 3 received over 141,000 reviews over its eight episodes.

Financial analyst Valliant Renegade previously called for The Walt Disney Company to cancel both its Marvel and Star Wars shows on Disney+ after Ahsoka’s viewership numbers revealed a declining trend for Star Wars.

He stated, “Ahsoka’s viewership for the premiere measured lower than that of Book of Boba Fett when adjusted for run time. That’s AWFUL. Disney+ has added millions of subs since then. None of them are signing up for Star Wars or Marvel.”

Next, he declared, “It’s time for Disney pull the plug on those franchises (on Disney+) because the cost to benefit ratio is WAY out of whack. They are spending too much money to produce mediocre crap at best that no where near enough people are watching to justify these obscene costs. #DisneyDumb.”

remember when marvel had a tv division from 2012-2019, and how kevin feigie fired them all out of spite when he gained more power instead of absorbing them into the marvel studios process?
