A new report details that Shift Up Corporation’s recently released Stellar Blade game topped the U.S. sales charts in April.

According to Executive Director and Video Game Industry Advisor at Circana Mat Piscatella, Stellar Blade beat out Helldivers II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Sea of Thieves, and Fallout 4 as the top selling game in the United States for the month of April despite releasing at the end of the month on April 26th.

Not only did the game claim the top spot in the month of April, but it is already the 16th most sold game for the entire year. Helldivers II is the top selling game followed by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Dragon’s Dogma II, MLB: The Show ’24, and Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth.

As a point of reference, Dragon’s Dogma 2 developer Capcom revealed the game has sold 3 million copies globally since it went on sale in March 22, 2024.

Stellar Blade will likely quickly move up the charts for the most sold games for the year once May’s numbers come out as the company is already gearing up for a sequel. X user Okami13_ shared that Shift Up was already considering developing a sequel based on documents concerning the company going public.
Kami detailed, “Stellar Blade developer Shift Up! confirms both a PC version and a sequel are under consideration.”

The game’s director Kim Hyung-tae also told Famitsu, “We are considering various plans for the possibility of producing a sequel. For example, it could be something that complements the story and worldview of this work, or it could be a completely different work.”
“We will decide based on what we want to deliver and what we want to depict while watching everyone’s reaction to this work,” he concluded.
