Rise of the Resistance is finally on the Extended Evening Hours list at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s official benefit page now includes the Galaxy’s Edge ride in the after-hours sessions, which are open to guests at Disney Deluxe Resorts, Deluxe Villa Resorts, and a few other select hotels. The park’s next two nights are Wednesday, Oct. 14, and Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The ride’s been left off Hollywood Studios Extended Evening Hours lineups more than once, and Disney has never said why.

Who’s on the Lineup

The Walt Disney World Extended Evening Hours page lists nine Hollywood Studios attractions, including Alien Swirling Saucers, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, Slinky Dog Dash, Star Tours, and Toy Story Mania! Select food, beverage, and merchandise spots stay open too, and Disney adds that attractions “are subject to change and may not always be operational.”

WDWMagic spotted the addition on Oct. 8, with one catch. When it posted, Rise had no operating hours listed for either night yet, and the site couldn’t tell whether those hours just hadn’t been loaded or the listing was a mistake.

The sessions run from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., according to WDW News Today, which noted that Hollywood Studios picks up some fall dates while Magic Kingdom hosts its Halloween parties. You’ll need valid park admission to attend plus a MagicBand or Disney MagicMobile pass connected to your reservation. Disney says the benefit continues through 2027.

If you’re headed in for one of those nights, check the My Disney Experience app that day to make sure Rise is running, and keep Smugglers Run in your back pocket.

Left Off Before

This has happened before. In 2023, WDW News Today reported that the park’s sessions on Sept. 30 and Oct. 5, 11, 19, and 25 wouldn’t include the ride. Smugglers Run, Slinky Dog Dash, and the rest of the headliners made the list, and the outlet wrote that “no reason has been shared for this omission.”

It came up again in 2024. Inside the Magic reported on July 30 that year that the ride wasn’t listed for the Hollywood Studios sessions on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2, and called the reason “unclear.” The site guessed Disney wanted extra overnight maintenance time after a run of technical issues, but that was the outlet’s own theory and was not based on anything Disney said.

And according to The WDW Expert, Rise was missing again from the lineup Disney first published for the September and October 2026 sessions, before the latest update added it.

Still No Word From Disney

Disney hasn’t explained why Rise of the Resistance sat out those earlier nights, or why it’s on the list now. The official page lists the ride with no note attached.

The ride opened on Dec. 5, 2019, and strings together several ride systems, a long preshow, and scenes packed with Audio-Animatronics figures and effects. The attraction’s complex setup has led to occasional downtime, though Disney hasn’t confirmed technical or staffing issues were behind the earlier omissions. Disney also recently filed a permit for unspecified work at the attraction.
