Dollywood Resort has announced the return of the Christian contemporary music concert event, Rock the Smokies. Last seen in 2019, this one-day special occassion will come to the park on August 27th in 2022. Headliners for the day are Toby Mac and the Newsboys. For groups of ten or more, the cost is about fifty dollars per person, and that gets a buyer into the concert as well as general admission for the park. Tickets can be purchased here.

Wes Ramey of the Dollywood Blog has the following information:

It’s been a couple of years, but we’re excited to be bringing back our very popular Rock the Smokies Christian music festival to the park this year! The event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 27, and it’s a great way for church groups, youth groups and families to finish their summer with a great crescendo! The event always proves to be very inspirational for those who attend, and we’re proud to have it back following the pandemic-forced postponement of the last two years.

So, I’ve made it this far into the blog, and I haven’t answered the number one question you have on your mind. Well, here you go… Rock the Smokies is headlined this year by TobyMac and Newsboys! That is two pretty powerful names in Christian music. The headline concerts take place in DP’s Celebrity Theater, with comedian and actor Heath Arthur as the emcee.

I’m pretty excited because Newsboys was my very first concert back in the mid-1990s, so there is a bit of nostalgia there for me. Thanks to Ms. Judy for loading up our youth group back in the day and taking us from Gate City, Virginia, to concerts all across the Southeast!

Christian hip-hop artist Aaron Cole, Katy Nichole, sister pop duo RENEE and Ben Fuller also are set to perform on additional stages throughout the park. All performances outside of DP’s Celebrity Theater are free with park admission. Additional artists may be announced at a later date.

In the past, tickets for the headline events are extremely popular, and premium seats sell out quickly, so keep that in mind as you go to order your tickets. Tickets go on sale April 14. Super early bird pricing ends June 24, and early bird pricing ends July 29. Sign-ups for an exclusive pre-sale take place at rockthesmokiesfest.com.  A ticket purchase includes admission to Dollywood. Discounts are available for groups, Dollywood Season Passholders and guests who order tickets early. Packages are available that include VIP seating, t-shirts, meet and greets and much more!

This event is always a great time and one you’ll surely want to experience! We hope to see you on Aug. 27!

To me, this sounds like a fantastic opportunity for church youth groups. If you’ve been to Rock the Smokies before, let us know in the comments what you thought about it. We’d love to hear your take as none of our writers has attended it.
