Sources tell That Park Place that Kareem Daniel and Bob Chapek have been meeting privately in France over the past days to work up a new plan for moderating content inside Disney.
The Walt Disney Company CEO, Bob Chapek, and Chairman of Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution, Kareem Daniel have been together in France over the past week according to sources and photographic evidence. Daniel is often seen as a “Chapek guy” from those who study the Disney Company and sources for this website say that Chapek and Daniel have been meeting away from Burbank about the future of Disney’s entertainment slate. Specifically, I am told that Chapek and Daniel have been privately setting forth a plan for how to manage the various studios and their content which is difficult to censor but also decidedly harmful to Disney’s bottom line.
If these rumors from sources are true, it would be further indication that a newly empowered Chapek is looking to shift the company back towards the sensible center and away from the squabbles of the left and the right. Prior to the Disney Walkout movement that sought to drive Disney employees into organized protest aimed at Chapek and his handling of social issues, Kareem Daniel was one person in a two-person “battery” used by Chapek to funnel content decisions from all studios through moderation. This meant that content which could harm Disney financially was filtered out below Chapek even though he is reported to have been given information about the content when necessary. This has led to strong speculation that Kareem Daniel is a deeply disliked individual inside Disney among the social movement provocateurs inside studios like Pixar, Disney Animation, Lucasfilm and Marvel. Being seen publicly with Chapek at an event that has nothing to do with Daniel’s normal duties is likely a show of power that solidifies his connection with the big boss.

Where this all becomes very interesting is in how exactly Chapek and Daniel will work together to curtail material in Disney properties that could undermine their financial success. Disney leadership is very keen to avoid more flops like Lightyear. Plus, material like Turning Red and Baymax! is known inside the company to be causing problems for their streaming subscription numbers. Again according to sources, the pair are working privately towards a secretive system for weeding out divisive content. Allegedly, Chapek and his leadership are uninterested in an easy-to-understand policy that could be leaked to the press. Instead, I am told that they are looking to be more like YouTube or Twitter in that they have broad goals and policies that can be used to nix issues without specificity and without studios being able to identify how exactly they went astray. Additionally, a source informs us that Disney leadership does not wish to have another situation where studios are leaking or going public with complaints about censorship.
So that is what I’m hearing at this point. We know that Kareem Daniel has been with Bob Chapek in France for public events that have nothing to do with his main role within the company. Daniel has also been the subject of puff pieces building up his reputation at a time when enemies inside the company would have liked to see him walk out the door. I’m willing to go along with the sources explaining to me the background about why. As for you, treat all of this as speculation at this point. Non-specificity like YouTube and Twitter suggests upvotes and downvotes will help to direct content. But we all been here before when downvotes are blamed on Gamergate or some other right wing conspiracy. The Left can demonize and they don’t need anything to prove their own ridiculous conspiracies. They would rather destroy Disney than give any ground.

There have been a few articles on him. One of the best is Bloomberg from Oct,20. It clearly lays out who he is and the fact Chapek already planned to have Daniel as his replacement. That is why he has never been liked within Disney.
