The Eyes of Wakanda animated series was announced by Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum at the end of last year. The official logline states, “Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.”

Variety reports that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is involved in the animated series.

A female Iron Fist is a relatively new concept in the comics. The first one was introduced back in 2014 with a young girl named Pei in Iron Fist: The Living Weapon.

By the end of the 12-issue series Danny Rand was tasked with training Pei until the next cycle.

In Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon #6, Danny Rand would give up the power of the Iron Fist to Okoye, who had already obtained the heavenly Dragon Chi. She used the two powers to battle the Hierophant and defeat him.

After defeating the Hierophant, Danny Rand refuses to receive the power of the Iron Fist back telling her, “I wasn’t all that good at it in the first place.”

Instead Okoye passed her powers to Gork the Undying, a dragon still in its egg being nurtured by Pei.

Marvel would also introduce a female Iron Fist, Fan Fei as the first ever Iron Fist in Marvel Legacy #1 back in 2017. She would join the Stone Age Avengers and battle the Celestial known as the Fallen.

Her origin was told in Avengers #13, where it’s revealed she’s a citizen of K’un-Lun who was arrested for training cavemen the art of Kung Fu. Her punishment was watching the cavemen she trained be executed by the dragon Shou-Lou, and then be eventually executed herself.

In a fit of rage, she broke free from her chains and killed Shou-Lou and inherited the abilities of the Iron Fist. However, she would be exiled from K’un-Lun and wandered earth aiding the cavemen.

She would go on to join the Stone Age Avengers.

If this rumor turns out to be true, it appears that Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe have not learned the hard lesson of The Marvels that fans are not interested in seeing their male heroes get replaced by derivative female ones.
