A new rumor claims that Nintendo is developing a game that will feature Zelda as a main character.

This rumor comes from X user GenosPapa who wrote, “Tears of the kingdom Had a great zelda design I think we are Severely overdue for a game where zelda Is the main character. Seems to me A Hyrule adventure like that Is something fans want, Nows The time.”

While at first glance this might indicate that GenosPapa is just suggesting a game he might be interested in playing, a number of replies to the original post note that the poor capitalization spells out “This Is A Hint.”
T in Tears, H in Had, I in I, and S in Severely spells This. Next, the I in Is and the S in Seems spells Is. Then we get the A in A. Finally, the H in Hyrule, the I in Is, the N in Now and the T in The. Altogether it spells “This is a hint.”

The idea that Zelda could be a main character in a future Legends of Zelda game is not unheard of. The Tears of the Kingdom producer Eiji Aonouma discussed the possibility back at the end of 2023 in an interview with IGN.
Aonouma stated, “Yeah, it is interesting when you think about the name of the series, the Legend of Zelda, but Link is always the main character. And Link has been the main character, and Zelda has always been involved, and they have a relationship and their own rules in each of the games. But it is true that, I think there’s always room for thinking about this type of thing and Zelda’s role. And there may be some sort of possibility for something like that in the future.”
He then added, “Maybe. Maybe, maybe.”
