A new rumor claims that Respawn Entertainment, the developer behind the Star Wars: Jedi franchise, is developing a Mandalorian bounty hunter game.

This rumor comes courtesy of Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming. He posits, “According to sources, the game will see the player take control of a Mandalorian bounty hunter (unclear who) set during the time when the Galactic Empire is dominating across the galaxy. It’s your job, as a bounty hunter to capture bounties dead or alive for cash rewards.”
Henderson further detailed that the game will not be open world, but will rather have linear levels set on different planets.

As for the game’s combat, this rumor claims the bounty hunter will come with an iconic jetpack and the player will be able to perform a number of maneuvers using it including “horizontal dashing, vertical jumping, boost sliding (somewhat similar to sliding down hills in Apex Legends), and more.”
The bounty hunter also comes equipped with various weapons including “a wrist rocket, grapple hook, a visor for tagging enemies and bounties, and more.”
The game is expected to be in development for at least one to two years.

This isn’t the first time a Mandalorian game has been rumored. Back in 2021, a leaked video shared by YouTuber Christopher Turner revealed a video game based on The Mandalorian Disney+ series for Google’s Stadia.
There was also Star Wars 1313 that Lucasfilm announced back in 2012, but was eventually cancelled. The game was expected to follow Boba Fett as he descended into an underground area of Coruscant known as Level 1313.
LucasArts did develop and released Star Wars: Bounty Hunter in 2002. The game followed Jango Fett and served as a prequel to Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.
It allowed players to travel to various planets chasing down Darth Tyranus’ former pupil and leader of the Bando Gora crime syndicate, Komari Vosa.
