It seems that Zip-a-dee-doo-dah will stop playing in North America this coming Saturday evening (or potentially Sunday). According to an inside source, only Japan will have Splash Mountain in just a few days.
Note that this report is big-time rumor and speculation but we don’t want to hold onto it any longer since we’re coming up on the dates. According to a source with connections at Disneyland, Splash Mountain in California is planned for closure either this Saturday or Sunday evening. The closure of the ride will also be the erasure of Nick Stewart’s voice from Disney Parks. You may recall he is one of the first African American voice actors in history and returned to voice Bre’r Bear for Splash Mountain when he was around eighty-years-old.
Perhaps given the hoopla that closing Splash Mountain in Florida caused (and thus is a bad look for Disney closing it), the company is eager to not repeat the same issue in Anaheim. After all, having the park flooded with fans wanting to spend one last ride with Br’er Rabbit could look even worse if it happens in California.
