Is a bit of extra caffeine headed to Disney World? Read on to see if lattes and espressos are getting ready to make a splash!
Who doesn’t love an awesome day at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach? Sure, there are other water parks available in the Orlando area, including the fantastic Aquatica and the thematically brilliant Volcano Bay. But there’s just something about the Disney water parks that gives them an extra dose of charm.
One dose you likely haven’t been able to enjoy in the past at a Disney water park, however, has been a dose of Starbucks coffee. Although the Seattle coffee chain is available at Disney Springs and all four Disney theme parks at Walt Disney World, you’re unable to grab a venti Pike’s Place roasted coffee while floating on a lazy river. Sure, there’s Joffrey’s Coffee at Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, and there’s nothing wrong with Joffrey’s… but some people just have a certain addiction to Starbucks.
If you’re in that group, great news is one the way. Or at least it could be great news if this rumor turns out to be true.
According to sources for That Park Place, there may be conversations happening between Walt Disney World and Starbucks to try to bring Starbucks locations to both of the Disney water parks. That could be in the form of a full service Starbucks or it could be a smaller option where Starbucks is added to the available options. We’ve seed that done already at locations such as Shades of Green, and it may alleviate the issue of having to close a Starbucks for a month or two out of the year while the water park is refurbished.

Well, Teresa of 2015, I’m glad to report to you that there’s a day ahead when — if your boys are still young enough — you’re going to hopefully be able to enjoy that sweet, sweet Starbucks right there at Typhoon Lagoon with them!
On a serious note, don’t expect any changes until 2023 at the earliest for either water park. Also, given what writer WDW Pro is hearing, it also doesn’t seem likely that Disney would spend to build a new structure at either of the water parks for a Starbucks expansion. This seems to be a situation where it’s going in an existing structure, whatever that may be.
Anyway, it’s been a rough few weeks for Disney and positive stories — I’m excited to get to do one tonight. It may just be a rumor for now, but watch for this one to hopefully come to fruition come next winter.
