The rumor comes in the wake of a separate rumor from Daniel RPK that also claimed that Supergirl would show up in James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, but it would not be the version portrayed by Sasha Calle in The Flash.

Home of DCU reported on X, “According to Daniel RPK, Supergirl will appear in ‘SUPERMAN: LEGACY’ and they are currently casting the character. Sasha Calle will not portray Supergirl in the DCU.

The moderators of the DCEUleaks subreddit would share additional details about what they heard regarding Supergirl.

Specifically they noted that Gunn and DC Studios were looking for a “white actress.”

Second, they noted they are looking for an actress between the ages of 18 and 25. Third, they reiterated Daniel RPK’s claim that Supergirl’s role in Superman: Legacy would be “Limited to a cameo.”

Finally, the moderators claimed, “Casting won’t be finalized until a director for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comes onboard.”

More recently Deadline reported that actresses Milly Alcock, Emilia Jones, and Meg Donnelly are in the running to play the part. The outlet also shared, “Deadline understands that natch, DC Studios co-boss James Gunn is definitely part of the process, as this is a character who likely will make its debut via a cameo in a DC project that isn’t Supergirl.”

Whether the character appears in Superman: Legacy or another DC project, it definitely feels like she will appear before her solo debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is being written by Ana Nogueira and is based off of Tom King’s comic book of the same name.

The Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow film was announced as part of Gunn and his DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran’s DC Studios slate at the end of January last year. It was the second last project announced seemingly indicating it was still a ways away.

At the time Gunn said of the film, “Now, Superman is a guy who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents, whereas Supergirl in this story, she is a character who was raised on a chunk of Krypton. She watched everybody around her perish in some terrible way so she’s a much more jaded character.”

He also described it as a “big, science fiction, epic film.”
