A new rumor claims that The Walt Disney Company is creating an “in-house propaganda position” in order to attack critics of the company’s numerous attractions in their parks such as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

This latest rumor comes from a confidential source close to That Park Place whose identity we are protecting. The source informed us that Walt Disney Imagineering is undergoing a re-organization. As part of this re-organization the company is “creating an in-house propaganda position whose purpose in part will be to counter the rising criticism towards what they know is increasingly poor creative.”
The source added, “This correlates with the lead-up to promotion for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in 2024.”

The idea that The Walt Disney Company would create an “in-house propaganda position” in order to blunt criticisms of their Disney parks is not out of the realm of possibility. The company has clearly employed a number of PR tactics in order to blunt criticisms of their various properties in the past.
One need only look at Star Wars. In the lead-up to the release of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+, the company attempted to deflect criticism of the show’s abysmal quality by pre-emptively targeting possible critics by labeling them as racially prejudiced.
The company posted to X at the end of May 2022, “We are proud to welcome Moses Ingram to the Star Wars family and excited for Reva’s story to unfold. If anyone intends to make her feel in any way unwelcome, we have only one thing to say: We resist.”
In a follow-up tweet, Lucasfilm posted, “There are more than 20 million sentient species in the Star Wars galaxy, don’t choose to be a racist.

Following this, Lucasfilm had Ewan McGregor create what appeared to be a PR-created video. He said, “This weekend, Star Wars fans made Obi-Wan Kenobi the most watched Disney+ original series premiere of all time. And for that I would say a big thank you. And it just goes to show what this family can do when we all pull together.”
He continued, “However, it seems that some of the fanbase from this influential fanbase have decided to attack Moses Ingram online and send her the most horrendous, racist DMs, and I heard some of them this morning and it broke my heart. Moses is a brilliant actor, she’s a brilliant woman, and she’s absolutely amazing in this series. She brings so much to the series, she brings so much to this franchise, and it just sickened me to my stomach to hear that this had been happening.”
“I just want to say, as the leading actor in the series, as the Executive Producer on the series, that we stand with Moses. We love Moses. And if you’re sending her bullying messages, you’re no Star Wars fan in my mind. There’s no place for racism in this world. And I totally stand with Moses,” he concluded.

On top of their direct actions accusing critics of racial prejudice with Obi-Wan Kenobi, the company recently hired President Joe Biden’s former National Traveling Press Secretary Remi Yamamoto to be their Vice President of Media Relations for its television division.
Biden previously described Remi as “unflinchingly loyal and extraordinarily capable.” He added, “Her insights, good humor, and work ethic have been an incredible asset to all of us, and I am grateful for her service and friendship.”
As noted by Variety, Yamamoto is “responsible for developing cross-brand messaging and communications strategies that promote Disney Entertainment Television (DET) programming executives across ABC Entertainment, ABC News, ABC Owned Television Stations, Disney Branded Television, Disney Television Studios, Freeform, FX, Hulu Originals, National Geographic and Onyx Collective, working closely with brand publicity leads across the businesses, per Disney.”
The outlet also detailed that Yamamoto “will oversee crisis communications and ‘issues-oriented messaging,’ in addition to exec communications and editorial teams for DET.”

Gina Carano is Cara Dune in THE MANDALORIAN, season two, exclusively on Disney+.
Actress Gina Carano, who previously played Cara Dune in The Mandalorian, also noted how Lucasfilm and The Walt Disney Company use their influence and reach in an attempt to silence their critics.
In October of this year, she responded to a clip from South Park’s “Joining the Panderverse” special writing, “This is the part where KK demands any YouTubers get censored off of YouTube for sharing and laughing at this hilarious episode, she’ll have YouTube disable the thumbs down option because of the ratio she’ll receive, then she’ll have her publicist ghouls make sure Variety and Hollywood Reporter run hit pieces about the South Park creators and their families smearing their names through every useful idiot she has under her thumb who would sell their soul to work for Lucas film.”
Carano continued, “She’ll activate her online mob to repeat that the South Park creators are racist, bigot, transphobes, and demand the South Park creators publicly apologize by only using words she approves of and finally she’ll demand they subject themselves to a re-education course of 45 people in the lbgtq community zoom call to sit there and listen of how badly they got their feelings hurt all over a little boop of a South Park episode. But maybe just maybe the jig is up.”

The idea that Disney is creating an in-house propaganda position to attack critics of Disney Parks does not seem out of the ordinary given the company’s behavior across its other entities over the past decade.
What do you make of this rumor that they are creating this in-house propaganda position?
