According to WDWNT, runners in the upcoming runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend may have a surprise that was intended. In an email allegedly being sent to participants, Disney is acknowledging that not all runners may receive a medal on time. The likely — but unspoken — reason is the supply chain issues we see all over the world in a variety of different sectors.
Here’s the message some runners are receiving in their emails:
We look forward to welcoming you this week to the inaugural runDisney Springtime Surprise Weekend, as we celebrate Yestermorrow!
In advance of the weekend events, we wanted to share with you the unfortunate possibility that our event medals may not arrive from our supplier in time for the event, due to recent global supply chain challenges. Although we have been working to resolve this matter, we cannot guarantee at this time the medals will be available at the finish line.
We understand that receiving a race medal is a special moment that epitomizes the hard work and dedication you’ve shown while training for the event. Please know that if the medals do not arrive by race time, we will get the well-deserved medal(s) to those who participated in the event, in the most timely fashion possible.

Thank you for running with us. We will continue to keep you apprised of the situation and look forward to seeing you soon.
This doesn’t seem to be any fault of Disney and we certainly hope it doesn’t damper the fun of any runners out there. If you’ve signed up for the Springtime Surprise Weekend, go on and have a wonderful time! There’s not much more enjoyable than a good run with people you love being with and then hitting up the parks afterwards.
