Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink has finally addressed the rumors about her potential casting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Recently, Variety reported that Sadie Sink has officially been cast in Spider-Man 4 alongside Tom Holland. Destin Daniel Cretton, who headed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will be directing. The film is projected to release in theaters on July 31, 2026. However, the report offered no plot details and did not specify which character she would portray. The only hint came from Deadline‘s earlier claim that the role will be “significant.”

This lack of confirmation hasn’t stopped speculation, though. Many comic fans and moviegoers believe she might be playing a comic-accurate Mary Jane Watson, particularly due to her hair. While she would be good for the role, no official sources have backed this theory. Moreover, Variety provided no source, verifiable or otherwise, to back its casting claim.

Meanwhile, there have also been rumors that Sadie Sink has been spotted for the role of Jean Grey in future X-Men projects. This came alongside rumors of many other potential castings for the now-confirmed X-Men movie in production at Marvel Studios. Most of these came from Jeff Sneider, an independent journalist and proposed Hollywood insider. There were also rumors that Henry Cavill was negotiating a full-time role in the MCU, either returning as the “Cavillrine” or, fans have speculated, potentially as Captain Britain.

In regards to Sadie Sink being cast as Jean Grey, a new interview has revealed her knowledge on the matter.

Josh Horowitz, who gave the interview on his YouTube channel, broached the question to her directly. When asked if the Jean Grey rumor was true, she responded: “This is news to me.” He then asked if she’d spoken with Kevin Feige or anyone at Marvel, and again she answered no. When asked to elaborate further, Sink gave an awkward laugh.

“No,” she said, “I can’t…no. I have nothing to say about this. The rumors are really cool, though. It’s an awesome rumor. I know the character. It’s a great character, so [the rumor] was cool to read.”

While Sink’s response appears to shut down the speculation regarding Jean Grey, she did not address the rumor that she’ll be in Spider-Man 4. Most likely, the interview was filmed before that rumor was announced.

Regardless of how her response is interpreted, this wouldn’t be the first time an actor has denied involvement in a Marvel project only for the rumors to later prove true. Andrew Garfield, for instance, famously insisted he was not returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in No Way Home, only for his role to be confirmed when the film premiered. Similarly, Tatiana Maslany initially denied being cast as She-Hulk before Marvel officially announced her in the role.

Whether Sink is genuinely uninvolved or simply playing coy remains to be seen. For now, her comments suggest that no official discussions have taken place. However, with Marvel Studios actively working on integrating the X-Men into the MCU, the role of Jean Grey—or another significant character—could still be open.

What do you think? Do these rumors of Sadie Sink to Marvel have merit? Sound of in the comments and let us know your thoughts!

Why can’t we get unknown Actors that ACTUALLY LOOK THE PART!!!!!
She isn’t anywhere near hot enough to be MJ, so she isn’t qualified. A better pick would be Deborah Ann Woll, but even she isn’t hot enough!!!

Because they cast actresses with Instagram followers. They are a bit desperate with their industry rolling down. I wonder if it looks even worse in closed circles where people are much more aware of finances and reports.

Captain Dunbrody

It’s like they look at another franchises and think “Who is the most wooden actresss”.
They did the exact same thing with Sansa and GoT.

Mex Mexican

I see they’re tripling down on uglifying hot characters. Let’s see if that works out.

What? Ginger being cast to play a ginger? Who’d have thought.
