A Marvel Studios scooper claims to reveal what Marvel Studios had planned for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty before they scrapped the project, brought back Robert Downey Jr., and announced Avengers: Doomsday at San Diego Comic-Con.

At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios and directors Joe and Anthony Russo announced they were helming the next two Avengers films titled Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars at the company’s Hall H presentation.
During their Avengers: Doomsday announcement it was revealed that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the role of Doctor Doom.
Joe Russo announced Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom saying, “We give you the one person who can play Victor Von Doom.” Robert Downey Jr. then walks forward and tears off his Doctor Doom mask.

With Avengers: Doomsday replacing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, scooper MyTimeToShineHello shared information on what Marvel Studios had planned with The Kang Dynasty.
The scooper stated, “In this film, the TVA began gathering Anchor Beings from across the Multiverse, believing they are the only ones powerful enough to defeat the Council of Kangs. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were the Anchors for their respective realities, while Tom Holland’s Spider-Man served as the Anchor for Earth-616.
“The movie was intended to be smaller in scope compared to SECRET WARS, focusing more on Holland’s Peter Parker, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and other Anchors like Nic Cage’s Ghost Rider,” the scooper continued. “The plan was for all of them to ultimately fail, leading to the collapse of the Multiverse and Kang’s creation of Battleworld. This would then set the stage for SECRET WARS, where other MCU characters and additional Multiverse figures would converge on Battleworld.”

This is not the first time that it was claimed that the three Spider-Mans and Jackman’s Wolverine would be teaming up. Scooper WDW Pro made the claim back in August 2023.
He stated at the time, “I’m hearing that now they have pivoted and Secret Wars is going to be a Wolverine/ Spider-Man team-up and we may be dealing with more than one Spider-Man. Perhaps two Spider-Man, maybe three, but perhaps two Spider-Man teamed up with Wolverine along with some other very big names.”
On top of noting that Wolverine and Spider-Man would be teaming up in Marvel’s original version for The Kang Dynasty and Spider-Man, he also noted at the time, “Stuff like The Eternals, Moon Knight, etc… that’s all going to be at the best cameo appearances.”
He then reiterated, “That this is going to be Spidey and Wolverine and a team-up for the ages and it just seems like Marvel knows they can’t continue the way they’ve been going.”

Given this information, WDW Pro speculated that the M-She-U was dead. He stated, “I’m here to tell you that I think the M-She-U is dead. I think we’re going back to phases 1, 2, and 3 in terms of what they do because they can’t lose Marvel. They just can’t. And so I don’t even know that they like what they’re doing, but I think we’re going to like what they’re doing.”
He later shared that he believes this was a Kevin Feige decision, “Perhaps Iger has stepped in and said you got to change things up, but I actually think that Kevin Feige, ahead of time, made this decision on his own. That’s sort of what we’re getting although we can’t say for sure.”

Not only did WDW Pro’s rumor regarding the Wolverine and Spider-Man team up get corroborated by MyTimeToShineHello, but Kevin Feige himself appeared to confirm the part that characters like the Eternals and Moon Knight would be relegated to cameos.
In an interview with Inverse, Feige informed the outlet, “There are no immediate plans for Eternals 2.”
However, he did note that Marvel does plan to reference the events that took place in the film moving forward, “There are, and I think you’ve seen maybe in a trailer we’ve released recently, an acknowledgment of some of those events. Certain giant things came out of the ocean.”

He also told Gizmodo that it was unlikely that many of the characters that were introduced in Phase 4 would show up in the upcoming Avengers films.
“I rarely speak in absolutes like that, right? The notion of never ever seeing somebody again, we’ve got Tim Blake Nelson in a movie coming up next year, right? So I never talk in absolutes like that,” Feige said.
However, he then admitted, “But the truth is, you know, we’re going to tell a story in these Avengers movies, and there won’t be room for 100,000 characters in it. So choices will have to be made, that’s for sure. But that doesn’t mean you won’t ever see anybody ever again.”

A recent rumor from Film Threat’s Chris Gore, during an appearance on The Critical Drinker’s YouTube channel, also indicated that Marvel Studios was pivoting away from woke activism and had laid off or excised many of its activist producers.
Gore said, “I do know people who work at Marvel. They have cleaned house. They quietly, months ago fired all the producers that could be labeled activist.”
He continued, ‘Unlike Lucasfilm. Lucasfilm is lost. They’re lost. They are doubling down on all the nonsense. You will never get anything good out of Lucasfilm and Star Wars. That’s it.”

In contrast, he said, “Kevin Feige recognizes… basically, he said that we tried it, it didn’t work. He’s talking about Phase 4. It didn’t work. No Kang. None of these side characters that don’t have the legacy of classic characters. And if Deadpool and Wolverine proves anything, you’ve heard that phrase ‘male and pale is stale,’ that was spoken aloud across studios, but if you look at box office this year, I would say male and pale is money. And that’s the phrase that I think people should more adopt.”
Gore also noted, “Additionally, they fired people that don’t know the comics. … But it’s going to be a sea change that will take years. Years. That’s why they are announcing this now. ‘We know we screwed up and failed, but look at what’s coming.’ So we’re going to get two bad movies, two bad TV shows, and maybe a good Fantastic Four film.”
