Maybe virginity is something that comes up as a topic in Spider-Man or X-Men… but it’s not what many were expecting with She-Hulk.
Add this to the list of headlines I never thought I would write.
I’m told this one needs to be “news” only… no opinion. So in order to make that happen, let me just lay out the clip and then give it to you without further comment. The scene has Bruce Banner (Hulk) and Jennifer Walters (She-Hulk) talking about Steve Rogers while riding in a car. At some point, Jennifer reaches the point of Steve Rogers’ (Captain America) virginity, just as an action event interrupts the conversation. It seems this is being presented for comedic effect — based on online reactions, it seems divisive as to whether or not that works.

It’s definitely anĀ interesting direction to take a Marvel show. It will be fascinating to see if this sort of writing will help Marvel come back from a Ms. Marvel show that failed to attract viewers or if this will continue the trend of MCU Disney+ series not reaching the heights of last year’s Loki.
It’s also curious if the jokey nature of the clip is a denigration of virginity. Some people are libertine about these issues, others believe you should be deeply cautious with physical relations. Are Marvel superheroes mocking the cautionary idea?
Let us know what you think in the comments. Is this the way forward for Marvel or is this out of touch with key demographics? And as always, keep reading That Park Place where the news is fun and fun is the news.
