She-Hulk Director Says Women’s Bathroom Has “Magic” and “Protective Warmth”

You know that one crazy worker at your jobsite who says things and you think, “they’ll be fired any day now.” That’s who is running Marvel.

Sometimes people say nutty things. Your sister-in-law swears that papayas are the best fruit even though you know they’re the worst. The mail lady is always telling you about the latest postal service conspiracy. And grandpa swears that someone is sneaking into his storage shed to mess with his tools at night. And even though they’re a little off, that’s the spice of life and relationships.

They’re also not in charge of hundred-million dollar budgets for shows that can impact a multi-billion dollar franchise.

So maybe it’s not just me when I hear the director for She-Hulk Attorney at Law saying that she “fought” for a bathroom scene because women’s restrooms are “magical” and have a “protective warmth.” Yes, the place that you are use to urinate, defecate and check your makeup. You would think of someone said such a stupid statement that they would be a twelve-year old girl at a middle school dance and then the other girls around her would be like, “you are such an utter ditz.” But no, this is the director of a Disney+ show, and because we all have to pretend that utter stupidity isn’t stupidity anymore, the interviewer acts as if this is a profound statement. The only real way for such a clip to end is for the institutional people to walk in behind her and say, “it’s time to go back to your room now, Ms. Gao.”

So if you’re wondering why Marvel has more flops at the box office than wins for the last two years… if you wonder why Disney+ growth is stagnant… if you wonder why Marvel shows on Disney+ are dropping viewership even as subscribers rise…

Well, it’s pretty easy to see when you watch something like this. Unserious people don’t make great leaders. But they make for great articles about “magical” and “protective” bathrooms. That’s what unserious people are great for.
