The moderators of r/SnyderCut, the largest fan community dedicated to Zack Snyder’s DC films, have issued a statement denouncing a recent post that called for Snyderverse fans to sabotage the release of Superman, the first entry in James Gunn’s new DC Universe.
The post, which circulated across social media earlier this week, encouraged users to post spoilers online, flood review sites with negative ratings, and interfere with ticket sales—all in the name of fighting for the Snyderverse.

A Snyderverse fan’s plan to sabotage James Gunn’s Superman – r/Snyderverse
The incident began when a Reddit user shared a post titled “Stand up and fight for Snyderverse on July 11” in the r/SnyderCut community. The message proposed a three-step strategy aimed at disrupting Superman’s debut:
The post urged Snyder fanatics to post spoilers everywhere, leave bad ratings on review sites, and reserve tickets online but not complete the purchase.
“Gunn fired the first shot and killed the Snyderverse and here is our chance to take the fight back to him,” the user said. Hashtags included #RestoreTheSnyderverse and #IfWeCantHaveOurSupermanNoOneCan.
James Gunn Responds
The post quickly made its way onto other social media platforms, including Threads, where a user brought it to the attention of Superman director and DC Studios co-head James Gunn. Gunn replied directly, brushing off concerns about any meaningful impact from the sabotage effort.

“Lol I think we’ll survive,” Gunn said. “I’m not sure the eight people that listen to that guy (I’m going to go out on a limb and guess it’s a guy) are going to impact the course of events.”
Gunn’s remarks echoed growing frustration among general DC fans and even many Snyder supporters who found the post divisive and unproductive.
Moderators Reject the Campaign
In a locked thread addressing the controversy, r/SnyderCut moderators confirmed that the post was deleted roughly two hours after it was published, stating it had received “little engagement” before it was taken down.
They also issued a formal statement distancing themselves from the message and clarifying the subreddit’s policies.

“Our staff never approved that post and does not endorse what it said,” the mods assured the peopl. “This is a public sub, where posts do not have to be pre-approved. The mere appearance of a post on our sub does not represent any endorsement by us.”
The moderators went on to explain their rationale for removal.

“There was never any question that this post violated our policies, both explicitly and in spirit, and needed to be immediately removed,” they said. “The post wasn’t so much controversial as it was universally disapproved of.”
While acknowledging that users are free to “vote with their wallets” and choose not to support a film, the moderators made clear they do not support “any dishonesty or manipulation aimed at stopping someone else from choosing to see a movie.”
A Pattern of Online Flashpoints
This is not the first time conflict has erupted between segments of the Snyderverse fanbase and the new DC leadership. In 2023, Snyderverse director David Ayer faced backlash from some fans after showing support for Superman and its teaser trailer.

Ayer—whose film is considered part of the former DCEU canon—publicly discouraged fans from launching a renewed “Ayer Cut” campaign to coincide with the Superman trailer release. The unhinged Snyderverse social media response led Ayer to temporarily withdraw from online discourse, citing the toxic nature of the reactions.
Gunn Addresses Backlash in Rolling Stone Interview
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Gunn addressed the existence of fan pushback, including attempted Snyderverse sabotage of Superman. While he acknowledged the presence of detractors, he emphasized that opposition does not always carry the negative weight some assume.
“I don’t mind it,” Gunn said. “I think it’s good. I think you don’t wanna have everybody root for you… These people help us, because you don’t want everything to seem 100% positive.”

He elaborated that having some level of dissent is a natural part of the creative process in a franchise as large as DC.
“It’s all right to have an opposing force every once in a while,” he said. “Some of the things get ridiculous — I just know that every time something comes out, it doesn’t matter how positively received, there’s gonna be something that is of great controversy. It was great controversy that the sun caused Superman pain.”
New DCU Moves Forward
Gunn’s Superman—scheduled for release on July 11th—marks the formal beginning of the DCU reboot. The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Supporting cast includes Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Milly Alcock, Anthony Carrigan, and Edi Gathegi.

In the same Rolling Stone interview, Gunn confirmed that he decided to drop the subtitle “Legacy” from the film’s title, opting instead for the simpler Superman. He also revealed that next summer’s Supergirl movie underwent a similar title change for consistency across the new universe.

This tells you everything you need to know about these people.
This likely wouldn’t have happened if it were not for Gunn’s ego (this guy is inserting himself into the franchise full frontal). In general, modern, gay Hollywood is facing a lot of p*ssed off ex-fans out there.
As for Reddit, anything not gay or communist gets modded into oblivion. Twitter is much better.
