In an unprecedented move, Sony is increasing the price of a base console mid-cycle due to inflation and supply chain problems.
Sony is raising the cost of their PS5 consoles to deal with higher incurred costs they have for chips and other parts. Meanwhile, Microsoft and Nintendo are not yet following suit. This is likely due to both Microsoft and Nintendo being able to use easier-to-supply parts for everything except the Xbox Series X.
We are constantly evaluating our business to offer our fans great gaming options. Our Xbox Series S suggested retail price remains at $299 and the Xbox Series X is $499. This also applies to other markets and their current pricing.

The change by Sony could not have been an easy decision. While some consumers are understanding, others are not. And when it comes to the holiday season, the other console companies certainly have a new advantage.
A lot of people are criticising Sony for raising the price of the PS5, but this is actually a good move and they're saving you money
For example, I was originally going to buy a PS5 for 499 euro but now i'm not buying a PS5 at all
