Walt Disney World is losing a mountain. Not only is the company changing one of its most beloved attractions based on African folklore but it’s also stripping it of its name.
This is just too much. This company has gone completely off the rails.
One of the most beloved attractions at Walt Disney World is Splash Mountain. If you don’t like the characters or the lore that it’s based on, I guess I can understand potentially destroying a favorite E-Attraction. For those of you who aren’t Disney people, an E-Attraction is the highest level of attraction at the park. Splash Mountain has consistently throughout its history been either the top or second-most sought after attraction at the park. But not only will Disney be removing the African folklore of Br’er Rabbit, but now they’re going to change the name to an icon:
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Even the logo is completely off from everything a thrill ride should convey.
Replacing the folklore with Disney’s own in-house IP, The Princess and the Frog, the company released this statement about the ride being changed for a late 2024 opening:
The new concept is inclusive – one that all of our guests can connect with and be inspired by, and it speaks to the diversity of the millions of people who visit our parks each year.
At every step it seems The Walt Disney Company is busy devouring itself and destroying the things that people have loved about it. Add one to the list. Disney World is losing a mountain.
